but still, if cops tell you to put it down, just put it down, don't point it at them or around them.
Airsoft guns look a lot like what they're based off of sometimes, and i'm sure cops would rather go off their instinct on whether it's fake or not rather than taking the time to think, since waiting longer until firing at the guy may mean the cop or his partners getting shot. Whenever somebody has a gun and are holding it around cops, it's easy for them to raise it in a split second and start firing at them at any given moment, from what i've seen.

Real gun is at the top, fake is on the bottom. (this isn't the gun involved in the news story, though)
