The judicial system is pretty in favor of abusive police. Most of the time they end up getting paid leave or transferred, not punished. Also the justice system is still pretty tribal, so that doesn't help.

personally i think the police are being disproportionately stuffty. there hasn't been much coverage of rioting. it's hard to say unless you're there.

Let me just put down in words what happens in the video.

There's this news van, and three reporters are setting up lights, a camera, etc. in a quiet part of town. They're going to set up a mini newscast kind of thing. They aren't rioting, nobody is rioting near them. Then police just decide to gas them. Right then and there. And once the reporters are gone they drive up in their armored van, get out, and tip over all the cameras and lights.

Not to mention when two reporters were just eating in a loving McDonalds and two cops came in and arrested them.
