Ok, let's be honest here, if you go by that logic any FPS game in the world is a parody of shooter games; any RTS game out there is a parody of strategy games.
That's entirely the wrong logic for what I was thinking. Parody = Anything that mocks or illustrates a point.
You fail to see the point of a game that's trying to stand out by the rest not by being broken like Goat Simulator but by actually bringing something new and silly to the table. The game is not made to be serious, it's made to be amusing just by the way it's even presented. People who play this do not want an actual dating sim, they want fun and funny moments, which I am beyond positive this game would deliver.
Then make it for free and don't push it out on a proper gaming platform. The funny moments aren't going to last ad infinem, and I'd bet my bottom dollar that they cannot last anywhere near a proper comedy game.
Why should you ever be excited of any other game in the world then if they all are serious and all do the same thing no more that this game does different for it's genre. You are simply stuffting on this for the sole reason that "It's the same thing" when it clearly isn't.
I'm stuffting on it because I think it's an awful concept, it's taking up space and money that could go to far better and serious game developers, and doesn't seem to offer any more than some funny pictures and dialogue outside of the normal dating sim routine.
It's a parody, as you said, and I see physically no issue in that. It's the same case with Duty Calls, would you defend CoD just because it makes fun of it or what? Be excited?
Duty Calls was free and the people who made it were very clearly making it for fun and to take a stab at the lazy cash-cow making that is CoD. I'm not going to say it was 100% GotY, and I certainly wouldn't put it anywhere near my favourite games, but at least it knew what it was and didn't try to cheat people out of their cash for what is essentially some big joke (the actual joke being that fact people bought into this).
I'm not defending dating sims or Call of Duty. I'm saying that this game seems like a bad idea to me, and I would feel cheated if any bit of my money went towards the developers who are simply trying to turn a quick buck in the wake of the entire simulator parody phase.
Instead of being a serious grump and act like a coo just to show you are different and cool I would rather you not. Just because you don't feel amused by this it doesn't mean it doesn't bring a question of "Wtf" to anyone else's.
I'm not trying to be "different" and "cool". I don't give a stuff at the end of the day what you guys think of me. It just annoys the stuff of me when I see crap like this, and then I see developers I know personally who are trying to make some really cool stuff, and they don't get anywhere near the same crowd.
Also, honestly, why are you trying to argue this like I'm some evil man who is going to take away your game? I'm just an starfish on the internet shouting an opinion. Here's some brilliant news: You can ignore me. Just because one developer is angry at a game and is posting on a totally unrelated forum does not mean anything will happen. I'm not going to go "fight the developers" or prevent you in anyway from buying it. I'm just simply stating (with a pretty aggressive inflection) that I feel this is a bad idea and that I cannot fathom why other people would want to pay $10 on this poor joke.
