rest in peace carolcat

you'll be bored so rest while there ya

bump cuz it's apparently scheduled for thursday of this week. i get to be let out of school at like 1:30 for it so he'll yea sun

i kinda hope that it starts hurting before the mri though because all the other times we've gone in to get it checked out, my joints have stopped hurting and it's like "well stuff"

Is your joint pain caused by joint laxity or an autoimmune response? I'm guessing the latter because you mentioned juvenile RA.

we really have no idea right now. the doctors have said that i have hypermobile joints (my fingers and knees bend back a lot further than they're supposed to) if that helps at all, but i'm taking arthritis medicine so uh

Are you tall and lanky? Like, do you have thin arms and thin fingers that seem kinda spider-like?

Nah I was thinking EDS since I know some people who have it and it causes hypermobile joints and the same kind of joint pain she's describing.

admittedly kind of a shot in the dark but hey it's worth asking

theres a lot of room for error when trying diagnose with these symptoms, but it does make sense

yeah, I'm not even remotely suggesting that that's what she has, but it's worth mentioning at least since sometimes doctors don't think of those kinds of things since it's not within their specialty.

I remember when I took my MRI. The doctors kept trying to poke that needle in my elbow, but my veins kept rolling, so they finally got one in my wrist. At least I had a rift-like goggle/headset combo so I could watch The Princess Bride while it goes underway.

i'm 5'8" and grew very quickly (easily surpassing my older sister in terms of growth) but i'm not really lanky. i'm kind of chubby in the thighs and tummy with muscular arms and shoulders. so my arms and fingers aren't really skinny at all.

You need to get to a legit diagnostician. Convince your dad to get on board.

Well, there's debate over whether or not EDS (the hypermobility side) is the same as Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, so it could be the former but so far doctors have considered it to be the latter. EDS is caused by weak collagen however whereas Hypermobility Syndrome is just taken as being hypermobile and it causing pain. But there is no test to actually distinguish between the two it seems.

Hypermobility Syndrome at the same time though can be a cause of EDS or Marfan Syndrome, or even brittle bone disease.
There are a lot of diseases in this area all with the same symptoms.

we went to a specialist earlier this year but all he could tell us was that my joints were also hypermobile. he said that unless i started developing swelling or redness around my joints then it was all normal stuff for teenagers.
