So far, it's only a tropical storm. It could strengthen though, and turn into a hurricane. There is also a potential chance that this storm will make landfall on the coast of the US which would most likely hit anywhere between Maine and South Carolina.

2nd update:

The Farmer's Almanac has predicted that this year there will be a lot of snow in the Eastern portion of the US. It will be a super cold one too, according to them. Keep in mind, the Farmer's Almanac usually makes predictions that are right 80% of the time. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/21/farmers-almanac-cold-winter_n_5695761.html)

3rd update:

A very powerful earthquake hit the San Francisco Bay Area this morning, and it happened to be the strongest the area has received since 1989. It was reported to be a 6.1 magnitude quake. Over 50 people are dead, and over 100 were injured. (http://www.weather.com/news/san-francisco-california-area-earthquake-20140824)

I will be doing continuous news on major weather events and natural disasters across the United States, and across the world on this thread to keep you guys informed.

In my book, it is!

Wait really? It's been all over the news

I'm surprised it's not heading to Florida and stirring stuff up our way. We're far overdue for a hurricane; I mean, it's been like seven damn years. Another one has to show up at some point.

I've been out all day so I haven't seen news.
