Author Topic: VODKA OCELOT - A Tank RP set in the same universe as ABS FIESTA!  (Read 21932 times)

I shoot a not-so-hidden artillery encampment that is shooting at Alpha tank with a HE round. Everyone at that encampment, the those surrounding it, are either a) blown up or c) killed with shrapnel from the artillery/its detonated rounds.

How did you find/hit a howitzer that was over five miles away?

Btw crew I hope you like conversion training because were switching to an E-50 if at all possible.

I would prefer it if tanks used had more information on them
i can't find any specs on crew size, etc.

also voiding the artillery encampment thing

Which part? Swat blasting it or it's existence all together? I'll adjust everything accordingly.

Also the E-50 has similar dimensions to a King Tiger with the layout and basic design of a late model panther.

Ah okay
But what about top speed, crew members, gun size, ammo type, etc?

Swat blasting it, btw, it's still firing in our general direction

I'll keep looking into it.

It says the top speed was supposed to be about 60km/h, be armed with a 88 mm L/71 gun, and use the Schmalturm turret similar to that of the Panther Ausf. F. My guess is the armor would be roughly the same as or slightly thicker than that of the Panther's.

Alright, works for me. We can upgrade after the next two missions (not including this one).

you would be on friendly radio not porlaq radio

A infantryman signals up to move up.

"Driver, forward!" I say.

The tank lurches forward. We cross a few hundred meters of woods. Infantry chatters about the open plains on the other side, saying there are infantry and vehicles in the open.

The ground thunders as a heavy pin point barrage of artillery slams into where we used to be.

We pull into some hedges, there are a lot of motor vehicles in the valley and on the low down grade.

You don't.

Autoloaders are fairly common by this point and are utilized by the major militaries participating in the war. Most are still rather primitive and only provide a minor reduction in loading times, and are rather expensive considering. Autoloaders are only available due to some fragments of podtech and associated schematics. Otherwise, tank designs are rather unremarkable, and would be just slightly more advanced than the time period's Terran equivalents during the second world war.

A 20mm rifle is still going to punch through tank armor with relative ease.
>autoloaders are fairly common

Not a singe tank in world had an auto-loader. Even to those day almost every Western tank is still manually loaded. The only tanks to have an auto loaders are the Swedish s-tank, the T-64, T-72, T-80, T-90, and every Chinese tank since the ZTZ-85.

Second thing to bring up. Auto loaders are not faster or better than humans. The point of the auto loader is simply to reduce the crew size. Auto loaders are prone to jamming which could fatal in a fire fight. Another issue if the tank takes a hit, the auto loader system could fail and become inoperable. The only advantage it has over a human is the fact that it doesn't get tired like one. It can just keep loading shells at a constant rate.

The loader position is an npc anyway. Even though this is fiction, there is a no room in any of those world war 2 tanks for an auto-loader system. Plus the ammo is revolving around you in the turret, so a heat round penetrating the turret would be fatal.

The more you know.

Fine.
There aren't loving autoloaders.
forget.
