Author Topic: forget off USPS.  (Read 3713 times)

Bump. It arrived yesterday. Apparently this is where USPS tracking stops until it's signed for. This is the first time a package that arrived in the country for me was NOT delivered the next day. I've even had mail from China arrive yesterday, and that was posted after the Rock Raiders.

That said, I think this might actually be a Customs problem. I've got nothing but bad stories from Customs, so I wouldn't be surprised if they went ahead and ripped open my package just for the forget of it. Cunts.

who told you stuff like that happens?
unless it was someone who actually works with customs, take what they said with less than a grain of salt

It was an exaggeration. Obviously they'd only open it if they suspected it was a problem, but I've had a number of packages flagged before, when the contents were either LEGO or game design books. It's a little bit annoying since anytime I see Border Security on TV, they insist they have some of the most advanced scanning tech on the planet.

EDIT: The one thing I can think that might be the problem is that I usually buy multiple things at the same time, so they might see a lot of packages for me at once, and assume that I'm doing some shady, sneaky stuff.

I doubt it's actually that interesting. it's probably random spot checking or every x number of packages

Well, hopefully it gets out asap. I'm genuinely scared about the state of the package.

Also wondering where my HP book is, since that shipped about a week before the Rock Raiders. Too bad that doesn't have tracking at all.

My best suggestion is don't use USPS and go with something else if you have the option. USPS has had to cut back on manpower and equipment within the last few years, and are pretty much under-funded.

The option wasn't given, and if it was, I would have chosen DHL or FedEx since they've been the best I've had so far.

The seller didn't want to go through a courier, just wanted to quickly dump the parcel off at their local post office and be done with it. Originally, they weren't even shipping it outside America, because of how expensive shipping is.

What annoys me most about USPS tracking is just how inconsistent it is. Some have the customs clearance message, others don't, some have the "onboard with driver", others don't etc etc. Very weird.

EDIT: So, the most common occurrence is that the package will be delivered 2 days after it arrives in the country, and for me that's tomorrow. There are few cases where it took 4 or so days later, but they seem to be outstanding cases.

My hope is that the contractor who delivers it is either the guy I'm used to, who always arrives at about 10AM or 11AM on the dot, or it's another guy who arrives about the same time, maybe even earlier. I got college at 1PM and it takes an hour to get there, and I'm going to be pissed if I get the loving card.

Whenever I order a package from amazon it goes to Eastern Mass, then NH then Connecticut then my house in Western mass

Anything but UPS is bad.
LEGO shipped through DHL (think it was the couriers, and they were intensely fast.

at least you don't have to deal with the forgetin starfishs at fedex delivering packages to your door

half the time they just throw that stuff on my doorstep :/

You people seriously underestimate how complicated the logistics of shipping stuff across the US let alone the world is. They use massive transport hubs because it is really time consuming and expensive to split up cargo. Logistics are loving crazy yo

the second i read that sentence i immediately thought of jesse pinkman.

I once bought a fez from Turkey.  Back off whovians, I was into the fez long before your annoying Mat Smith made it nerdy.
Shipping was going to be two weeks, wound up double that.
It's just what international shipping is like.

Why don't you like the USP-S? It's almost completely silent, and even though it has less ammo than the P2000, it still has all you'll need.
