Edit: Wasnt able to get online for a while and missed my war, but no one really attacked me much and when I got online today, my collectors were really full. My dark storage and my last air defense are upgrading now.

Got any tips? I've read to avoid areas where giant bombs are, and to go in waves, as well as to use healing spells.

Yes those are good plans. Try to look ahead to where giant bombs could be. If possible, deploy a giant as bait. The giant will walk right past other buildings and has a better chance of triggering more traps. If traps aren't an issue, release your hogs in large amounts (10 or more works best). They will begin to flood the defenses and wipe them out in about two seconds each. They are bulky units, but drop heal spells on the areas where they are working (they move fast, so try to cover as many defenses in heal spell as possible). Be very aware of giant bombs inside the walls. They will wipe out your entire group and likely cause you to lose the entire attack.

My clan just hit level 2.

Also lost an entire war because my mom was out of the house so much and I didn't get enough online time to train worthy troops. We lost by one star because I didn't get three stars in an easy th7 base. If I had my normal war setup, I would have dusted him off the map.

Hog riders take some getting used to. They are amazing if used correctly, but they behave completely differently from any other troops and have their excruciatingly annoying giant bomb weakness.

I can't wait until I am TH9 because I want to unlock the witch.
