ok so my ancient galaxy s2 is about to kick the bucket pretty much. the power button has become hyper sensitive and the battery won't read correctly. but as luck would have it, i'm due for a phone upgrade in less than a month, meaning i can get a new phone of the same line for a huge discount.

obviously, i can only get a samsung galaxy smartphone. right now i'm looking at the S3 and S4: the S3 will cost us $50 and both of my parents have had it for around 2 years (i don't really want it that much because the battery life doesn't seem that great, it's not very pretty, and... both my parents have it), whereas the S4 will cost us $100 (i'd prefer this one because it comes in a rly nice purple color and it's newer than the S3)

so basically i need help deciding between the S3 and S4. does anyone here have them/had them and can offer me some reviews, including anything stuff about them? is the extra $50 worth trying to convince my dad to get me an S4? and does anyone know about how much a mint condition S2 will trade in for?

help is appreciated

I'm not here to convince you to change phone lines to iPhone or something, but I'm curious why you have to stay within the Samsung Galaxy S line. Is it some condition of your contract that you can only upgrade within phone families?

yeah pretty much. but i was pretty happy with my S2 up until the context menu button and then the power button started to forget up, and my parents haven't had many problems with their S3's, so i don't mind sticking with the galaxy s line (even if they're a little rounded to my liking and have a goofy home button on some models)

I've heard people talk about lg g3 phone before but I haven't looked into it

But if your sticking with samsung get the S4 because newer better and purple

it would be better if you had other possibilities here. s4 and s3 arent exactly the greatest. but out of the two s4 is the best (obv) and its worth the 50 dollars extra

if youre looking for the economic deal then take the s3 which isnt bad at all
if you want to be hip cool and purple take the s4
i mean it is a 50 dollar difference iirc so theres no point in an economic deal but yknow

Fun fact: My mom had an s2 for years

For me, I would recommend an S4

Or wait for an S5

Or get an iPhone :cookieMonster:

i highly recommend my S3, since i went to amazon and got a zer0lemon battery extension, which basically turns it into an immortal brick.
s4 has had significant issues with battery consumption and the s3 is generally more reliable, both parents used s4's for a month and downgraded to s3's.

edit: the case/battery i currently have on my phone. base is 2100 mAh, extension is 7000 mAh. means i can use it for a full day straight and not drain it.

1: too expensive, it'll cost $200 to upgrade to that

2: gross, and my dad hates apple

hey you take that back
the screen is so tiny though and it's so heavy. also the screen seems to break super easily.

I've dropped my iPhone 5 hundreds of times, no cracks. Also, I hate large screen sizes. It doesn't fit in your hand well at all -- I'm upset that they're increasing the phone size to 4.7 inches with the iPhone 6.

i'm pretty happy with how my S2 fits in my hand and i like the bigger screens better, so :s

i wonder if screens are the only thing you like bigger

Get a S4, Its specs are vastly superior to what you currently have.

iPhone5/5c is bad(Opinion Guys, OPINION), only because of the OS.
Its so restrictive, try getting a emulator on one and you will hate yourself, the only way to use one correctly is to jailbreak and risk not bricking it.

Also If you can you should look into Cyanogen Mod, it turns any android phone into a better one, by removing bloatware that is bundled with it, a S4 with Cyanogen can get you nearly all the features of the S5, minus the Waterproofing.

I don't have a galaxy but my uncle had one and I usually worked with it all the time, usually I tuned it up for him and removed bloatware, my current phone is a Nokia Lumia 521 (Its a budget phone don't judge me.) running Windows Phone 8.1 Dev Preview GDR1.

TLDR;Get a S4 then try to get Cyanogen Mod.
