OFFICIAL TOPIC

Hurricane 2014 is a hurricane survival game where the concept is simple. Survive a hurricane. One shot. You die and it's over.

On the wonderful beach of Cranberry Beach (no there's no cranberries) life seems simple and fun in very aged houses, away from all other civilization. But every few years mother nature takes her wrath out on the poor area. This time a group of Blockheads are staying in the sandstone homes of Cranberry Beach, but disaster awaits.

There are currently no pictures because I'm working on the build. Expect updates soon.

During the hurricane event, this section of the OP will state the latest on the hurricane. Wind speeds, flooding, projected path, etc.

The Event
The server will be hosted once on a date TBA. The server will open up and players can then join and spawn in the spectator room. Players on the server when the server opens can then teleport down into the arena. However, once the main event starts, the teleporter will be closed and players who die will NOT be able to re-enter. They can either leave or watch the rest of the hurricane.

Timeline
The event is planned to be about an hour to 90 minutes long, as this is a real-life simulation (Obviously landfalls are much longer than this, but I want to keep this short enough for a fun simulation). The server will open up 15 minutes prior to the simulation start, in this period players will enter the arena. At the start of the simulation, the teleporter will close and any players who join during the simulation cannot play. So if you're looking to play, join the server when it opens. No exceptions. Players who die will also not be able to re-enter the arena. So come prepared. Read up on the disasters and set up a house to shelter in. After the simulation is over, the survivors will be announced in the forum topic and the server will close. If all players die, the simulation will end and if there is enough time there will be another simulation.

Methods of Death
Obviously, just like a real life hurricane, there are methods of dying. First of all, there is flooding. Touching the flooding water will damage you, so you can die from touching it too long. Then there is lightning, lightning bolts will strike certain areas of the map, most likely killing you if your too close.

There is also a tornado, which will rip up parts of the town for a few minutes, then die off. Getting too close to the tornado will kill you. Finally, there is wind. The wind picks up in certain areas of the town, creating a wind tunnel effect, pushing you around and damaging you and nearby builds. Obviously due to collision restrictions, flying debris will not damage you and are only for decoration.

What I Need
Obviously I'm no where near done with this server. I'm gonna need some help so I'll just spit out what is needed. Any help is appreciated.

Colors: Red: Needed Urgently Yellow: Not required but wanted for gameplay Green: Appreciated but not needed

Thunder sound effect - if anyone could package the sound chrisbot6 posted on page 2, that'd be great
setWaterHeight event
Regional chat(?)
-1 Fake Kill Brick
I don't need builders at the moment as I build better alone but once I get the main build done I will need players who can help decorate the build.

dodododododo

I'm wondering how this will function. what will kill players? touching water? sounds cool though - just don't compromise on the build.

Although the OP is set up well, I just have a feeling that there should be more information. I like the concept though.

Water will kill players once the flooding begins. Lightning will also strike and kill players within a 4 block radius.

There's (going to be) a mountain area blocked off by gates, and only when the flooding starts getting bad it opens. This way there's a challenge sort of feel while keeping it realistic.

There's going to be more info as I get a date planned for this and a how to play section once I've got gameplay figured out.

Looks interesting…

Cant wait to see it!

c:

arizona is going through weather like this :)

Will actual wind be a part of it (probably no stuff but you never mentioned it)? This seems promising if it isn't as similar to rising lava as I think it could be.

Are you planning to add debris as well? This looks really challenging and interesting.

So is this basically rising lava except with water or is there something new?

yes there will be certain areas during the hurricane that blow you around and damage you a bit

It'll be difficult because it's not like bricks can hurt you after being fakekilled. Probably for decoration.

wind, lightning, maybe a tornado idk yet.
