Don't have time to package this into a mod or test it but it's not very hard - just put it in a server.cs and add a description.txt in a zip and you should be good to go.

Make any corrections you need. I might have messed up.

If this is a gamemode, do you plan on releasing it?

Or the build perhaps?

If this is only a one shot thing this would be amazing to release after you finish it and play that one round you mentioned.

I'd totally be interested in playing this.

The entire thing is going to be event based, so releasing this wouldn't be too hard. If it's actually really fun I may host it more than once, I just figured hosting it once would be easier on my part and would feel like a "big event" or something.

I will consider either releasing everything or hosting it more than once.

If this uses events, then i'm not that impressed. The idea itself is fantastic. One shot at surviving.

Water will kill players once the flooding begins. Lightning will also strike and kill players within a 4 block radius.

There's (going to be) a mountain area blocked off by gates, and only when the flooding starts getting bad it opens. This way there's a challenge sort of feel while keeping it realistic.
There's going to be more info as I get a date planned for this and a how to play section once I've got gameplay figured out.

Not exactly. There's zones where lightning strikes and buildings fall apart. Not to mention there's also wind zones where you get thrown around.

However if you want to describe it that way, go ahead. I'm keeping this as realistic as possible and essentially a hurricane with flooding is a slow paced rising lava.

I'm hosting a build server right now if anyone wants to stop by and maybe build a few dups or trees.
