There's some hardcore coup d'état stuff going on.
Basically, my homeowner's association is like a bunch of fascists. If you have your boat out for one day, you get a letter. If you leave your garbage cans out one hour longer than you need, you get a letter. Anytime the inspector comes by and notices something off that maybe happened just that day: a fallen palm frond, standing water in your driveway after a hard rain, guess what? A loving letter.
This all comes from the board of directors that run my housing development which is comprised of this shady ass realtor and his business partners that've been selling houses in the development for all of 5 years and on the board for 3. Essentially, they've been accused of using funds allocated for the maintenance of the development for leisure (going out to expensive dinners, buying extravagant things). To be quite honest, I wouldn't be surprised.
Recently, an even shadier sect of people comprised of old board members surfaced and have been apparently protesting at board meetings and messing with private email accounts to get info.
Well, apparently, a few weeks back they had found some dirt and wanted to tell the homeowners about it. So they created some website that allegedly would provide you with said information if you signed up. A few of my neighbors signed up just to see what it was.
Well? It was a loving gyp, of course. Anybody who signed up, which was nearly half the development (don't even get me started on how they got all these emails to send out the info in the first place; has something to do with a double agent IT guy or whatever), had their records stolen and read. Basically everything regarding mortgages and financial data on their homes as well as any outstanding permits and floor plans.
So now we have a corrupt association and a bunch of privacy thieves in our development and doing stupid ass stuff.
This is a loving housing development. These people are treating it like some kind of secret Illuminati-esque organization.
How this stuff hasn't ended up on the news I have no idea.
