Terra Nova
Year: 2218
  Tech: Supermodern
1 year in game = 1 day in life

Story
The discovery of habitable planets at nearby stars has interested scientists for decades, though only recently has the technology been invented to get things there. Robots, controlled from a staging post in orbit of Mars, have been landed on these worlds. They sent back images of worlds flowing with life much similar to life on Earth. Years later, a generational ship was developed that could travel near light speeds. Almost 40 million people were boarded onto the ship.

The journey will take 40 years to complete, and 40 more years to return to earth. The first destination is a relatively small planet, very close to its dim star. The second destination is a large planet, quite far away from its star. The third and final destination is a moon orbiting a gas giant around a very bright star. Each planet will have 20 million people dropped off, unless population is lower than expected. Your people and your future children are assigned to the second destination planet, for which everyone has agreed to call Terra Nova.

25 years after stepping into the ship, you are now finally stepping off on to a whole new world. Let's not screw this up.

[ 10 YEARS LATER - 2200 - IT BEGINS ]

Making a faction
I don't want to limit you guys on what you need to have, so I'll only state the basics.
What you absolutely should have on your faction post is:
Faction Name, Type*, System%
Map location if applicable
Cultural Origin^
Faction Color
Population

Though if you don't, but your faction post has a reason for not having it, it may still be accepted.

* = You're not limited to being a nation. You can be nomadic, or just a little club, or whatever.
% = The systems your faction runs on, if any.
^ = Is your faction inspired by a country or a group?

Guidelines
Forum rules still apply.
Your faction may gradually change, but not too fast.
Try to be somewhat realistic.
Don't invent game changing tech, that's my job.
When in a war, you must wait for your opponent to respond before commencing your next attack.
You can only control your own faction.
No cheating.
Use common sense.
Your owned territory must be realistic in proportion to your population/needs.
Do not place your new nations right next to an existing nation. Unless there is barely any land left.
No warring with a nation that is 5 years or less old.
Just because something is not here, it doesn't mean you can/can't do it. If you're really worried, ask me.

Technology
Subspace is a very unstable universe that bends space when anything is inside it. Only radiation exists here, and because of the space bending, it can be used for FTL communication. Thus, FTL communication exists. Subspace beams can travel 10,000 times faster than light, and the Subnet is gradually replacing the Internet. You need a lot of power to puncture into subspace but maintaining the portal is very easy once it opens.
Space travel is possible. Casual speeds tend to be 1/10 the speed of light, with light speeds only being for the bulky interstellar ships, which is hard to do. Space colonies are also a thing.

We are only slightly more advanced than modern (2014) times. The only great advancements in history was space colonies and subspace. Please keep this in mind.
Other examples of Supermodern tech:
Mechs
Near light speed space travel (note: the generational ship on the story was just a spur of the moment. interstellar travel is not going to become normal in the near future)
Stem cell usage
Anything else slightly more advanced than what we have in the modern (2014) times, if you're worried please tell me your idea.
Remember, I'm going to be the one to introduce game changing tech. Don't do it yourself unless you have direct permission from me.

Temporary Limitations
The remaining times can change without notice.

Your nation cannot start with more than 50 million population. 7 years
No interstellar manned space travel or colonies for the time being. ??? years

Everything is still subject to change, right now I'm seeing if this works as intended.
Ask questions if you're confused.

The Solcuno System
All of these planets are in the Solcuno system, starting from near star orbit to far star orbit.

48,342 km radius         1 year = 9.46 years         1 day = 9.6 hours
Described as a "hot saturn", this gas giant orbits just 0.74 AU from its star. It is also ringed, and most likely has many hot moons.

Most asteroids are around 1.4 to 1.6 AU from the star.

6,962 km radius         1 year = 1.77 years         1 day = 13.7 hours
Slightly larger and warmer than Earth, 3.08 AU from its star. Habitable, though somewhat tropical. Has no major moons.

2,643 km radius         1 year = 2.77 years         1 day = 57.7 hours
Described as the Mars of the system, 5.83 AU from its star. Not habitable. Has rather odd surface oceans of an oil-like substance. Has no major moons.

48,342 km radius         1 year = 20.46 years         1 day = 9.6 hours
This gas giant orbits 7.72 AU from its star. It is composed primarily of Argon, and most likely has many moons.

48,342 km radius         1 year = 12.46 years         1 day = 9.6 hours
This gas giant orbits 10.72 AU from its star. It is composed primarily of Helium, and most likely has many moons.

Most asteroids are around 20 to 25 AU from the star.

4,724 km radius         1 year = 31.77 years         1 day = 57.7 hours
Described as a giant Pluto, 27.83 AU from its star. Not habitable. Very cold. Has two major moons.

Name: Atenisia Mason Council

Mostly a nation: (people are taxed, people are Atenisians, people who are Atenisians must have perm. residence or they leave their citizenship. People who live in Atenisia get trade bonuses. stuff like that. It is like a hotel membership, just bigger. Meritocratic council can choose to eject special cases or refuse residence to people.)

Government Type: Meritocracy.

Location: Choose a reasonable, Middle-North-American-Like-Climate location seperated for everyone else, aka isolated-ish-ish. Near ocean/lakes/water.

Culture: American culture and the Freemasons.

Color: Navy Blue

Population: 13.7 Million

Atenisian Protection and Humanitarian Force:
Human Personnel: 513,234

Synthetic Personnel: ~1.2 million

Overall Human Reserves: 1.3 million trained men and women.

The Synthetic Personnel work like an inter-connected yet humane-like army. Each "squad" has a commander, in where the commander gets orders from company commanders, where they get commands from multiple super computers located somewhere in Atenisia via the Subnet. This super computer is unlike any other; specifically made for commanding a national security force and made by the (very) genius minds of Atenisia.

This good? Middle right ish

Put the capital near that lake-thing and then it will be pefecto.

Due to this non-sea contact, the Atenisian Council decide to direct avaliable resources toward the building of a cbrown town that includes several cool things that stop salt-water from inherently flowing into the relatively fresh-water lake. Such lake is named the "Esian Lake" after the sponsor of the ship that brought them to this planet (if that is alright, oc).

Alright, thanks.

Let us hope others join tho.

I'm sure more will be joining soon in the morning, I posted this kinda late at night.

United Vertwall Confederation (UVC) - Full nation - Authoritarian dictatorship with strict border control and laws. Subnet and Internet are highly restricted, all media and news from the government. Civilians are technologically behind the rest of the world.

Location: The Cyprus-shaped central northern island, within the bay that roughly looks like Europe

Culture: 1984-esque dystopia

Color: Gunmetal Grey

Population: 1 Million

Subnet and the Internet are not restricted.

School curriculum is not stuff. Kids over the age of 10 do what they want to do around three basic subjects (Logic [Math, Science, Language], Communication and Technologies, Exercise). Classes are fun and engaging.

A message is sent back to Earth via the way the Subnet works or something.

A message is sent back to Earth via the way the Subnet works or something.
What's in the message? Just stating you exist or something?

the Internet
Just let me tell you, you're free to make your own internet but you're never gonna get any webpages from earth. Earth is 25ish lightyears away. That's why we have subspace beams and the subnet! Though it would still a little slow, like having dialup connection, but that's only because we're far away from earth.

Added, tell me if I did it wrong

When you tell me the location it would help me if you could circle an area or something. You could even attempt to draw in the borders and such yourself if you want.

Never let people draw their own borders.

The message states:
"This is Registered Faction AMC, from Interstellar Craft N13909. We are on NX34252-, also called Terra Nova by the residence here. Temperature slightly above the pre-warmed Earth average. Slightly larger; records say that this planet is
6961.73 km in radius. 3.08 astronomical units away from the star, NX342520, also known as Solcuno. All is well. Other interesting knowledge is packaged with this transmission.

[/backwards, nearly-silent latin phrase for "May He help us."]

We hope you guys are okay."

"yea we know cigaretteet"

"It's great to know you guys are alive. Based on our calculations the Voyager should be arriving at the last destination in a few years. We don't have anything interesting to report but we will keep you posted if anything strange happens"

- Sent from the Jupiter Research Station

"That's perfect. Drones have shown a rise of what seems like a total authoritian dictatorship.

We guess some people don't learn. Speaking of which, how are things going back at home?"
