wait, I'm confused. you say games help teach, but now you're saying they aren't developed to that stage yet?
I said that games teach, but I didn't say anything about how they've been designed. Games are teaching, but right now they're mostly teaching unrelated lessons and logic that only apply to the game you're playing. Games that teach actual lessons useful to the classroom are rare at the moment.

ok thats it i have lost hope of one single person here that does not have jerking off with computers as their job goal

I was going to post a wall, but then I realized I have no argument; I'm a freak that loves public school.

Basically, the gist of my wall was going to be that tests are crap, curriculums aren't flexible, students are roped together regardless how much they actually like the subject, review weeks wouldn't exist if we had year-round schooling (every year I'm taught the scientific method), education needs better funding, and lunch is the period that holds everything together.

That's generally what K12 (online schooling) has done for me, minus the perma grade thing since I'm in Honors.
You should check it out.
Oh, as an added bonus, working at my own pace means my school day can be as fast as 4 hours, or up to 8 hours on a slow day, and breaks in between for whatever.

You can't just throw money at something and hope the problem gets better. Our school system needs a complete reform. Currently the no child left doesn't do much. Teacher unions are pretty incompetent and allow for stuffty teachers to keep their jobs. Testing is basically based on memorization on useless crap like Romeo and Juliet, cramming tons of information in a short period of time and being expected to remember it all.

it... really doesn't suck.

you're encouraged to exceed and get through it. if you take harder classes and extracurricular activities, the american education system is amazing. i'm in the 48th worst state for education and i'm literally going to graduate with my bachelors in aeronautical engineering and my A&P certification under my belt. i'm going to make $23 an hour right out of high school.

oh, and i'm going to get a full ride scholarship by the company who i'm hired by.

if you go the "easy way" through school, you will have a harder time. and if you slack through your classes, you will fail. college debts will be crippling. nobody wants to pay for a slacker.

seriously, i'm learning so much each day. before today, i couldn't tell the difference between a shear resistant and a tension resistant rivet. now, i can literally order any kind of custom rivet online by US Military standards.

seriously, if you get out there and follow your passion, you will have SUCH a fun time during school. i actually really love school and i cannot wait to go on to college.

and don't say i'm "lucky" or "priviledged" -- i worked hard, my brother worked hard, my friends worked hard... and we're going places. i'm going to be working on airplanes all over the world, and i couldn't have done it WITHOUT the American Education system. i literally owe my teachers and the government my future.

basically, don't try, do. take a shot at extracurricular activities. i'm sure you can find anything you want, whether it's computer programming, music, sports--you name it, there are classes out there for it.

follow what you love and it will make a world of a difference. trust me, i'm doing it right now.

I don't deal with a lot of these issues with school because I'm homeschooled.

It's awesome.

my friend is homeschooled and he blows stuff up in the desert for his "chemistry class"
