Voted no because it simply wouldn't work out. Take downloading add-ons from a server for example. Even that barely works. I constantly have to re-connect to un-freeze the d/l

I must agree.

It was a pain in the ass back when RTB was up and running with a working Mod Manager. But when you downloaded add-ons, you had to exit your game, reload blockland, enable the add-on, and rehost your server. For me, this would take about an hour to do.

If it does get added, it better have some modding ability so we dont have some kid rampaging people's ears.
I stated in OP there would be a mute button in the Player List that would probably mute the player via their BLID.

I believe that this has not only been asked for multiple times before, but also is not possible to implement into the game as a result of engine limitations, if I recall correctly.
The Function is already implemented in the version of Torque Blockland Runs on.

just use skype or teamspeak
that's what I've done the past 3 years
Stated in OP, this is about official support not about an alternative to the solution.

Yes!

I've thought a bit about it - there could be certain modes of voice chat integrated, like Global, Local (you can hear someone from a certain amount of studs away - this amount could be changeable) and Team, which broadcasts it to your team in the minigame.
Great ideas! I'm sure these too could be implemented.

Blockland uses Steam now. Steam has voice chat support. Use Steam voice chat?
Steam chat relies on only being to talk to friends you have added, and does not let you talk to the whole server or non-steam players.

Never happened to me, I suppose those are Internet Related Problems on your end, or PC Problems any Modern Computer can run Blockland at a stable FPS 50-60.

I must agree.

Again...this sounds more like a problem on your end(probably your computer or ISP?), It takes me only a few minutes to do this, it takes about 30 seconds for Blockland to load for me, I did notice having RTB increases loading time, takes me about a Minute or Two to start up my own server.

Though back then with my old computer that was a old Intel Pentium 4 Duo with 4GBs of ram and a old Nvidia GT210 (It was my old computer for just Blockland back then), and my OS was XP SP3, it did take me quite a while to load, much similar to your load time...

Just be glad we don't have a horrible addon system like gmods addon system, that makes gmod crash every couple of seconds when downloading from the workshop.

Anyways I'm getting a bit off-topic here, so back to the main topic; I am happy to answer any questions you guys may have about the possibility of having Native Voice Chat in Blockland.

Isn't there a way to make an add-on that enables the voice chat feature?

Its already been done, but it relies on Teamspeak and it needs to run alongside Blockland.
Aside from that whoever you want to talk to needs to have Teamspeak as well.

No. Not sure what you're thinking of.

Stop dreaming, nothing that requires engine changes is going to happen any time soon.

It has been stated before by someone else who had experience with TGE that Voice Chat already comes with TGE, but that it was either disabled or removed, if It was removed I can only guess that it was because it functioned poorly.

Not really an engine change, I do not easily give up on things, there is still a chance.

You are right on one thing though, it is not going to happen any time soon, but maybe it already made its way to Badspot's big list of things to do with Blockland, however even if it did, I can only suppose it fell under the "Low Priority" section.

I think adding voice chat would kinda ruin the experience. I mean, think of the LEGO games (before they started just editing in the voices, thats just terrible.) where the figures dance around, acting out the scene they play, comparable to a Blockhead dancing around when you do a text chat input.

That is why I voted no.

~TL;DR: voice chat would ruin the mood the game creates

You know, maybe we can take on from the jabber mod, or like what GTA 5 does, when the game detects a voice input from a player, the blockhead plays the speaking animation that it does from chatting. I support this suggestion, me being a major TDM guy, team play and comunication is key to me, i get so annoyed when im telling my team that theres an enemy soldier at B flag, then halfway through my sentence i get type killed.  #Support

Other programs can do voice chat support.
Choosing the right features you want is important, even more so if developer time and resources are not abundant.

I believe if this was implemented somehow, that there should be a way to either have it enabled or not, and you can see who has the voicechat enabled so you know they can hear you, like a speaker icon in the playerlist or something?

 if that makes any sense.

Baspot seems to have abandonned blockland

he said that on a thread somewhere
