You can really consider spanish really different in different countries DUE to culture. This is why the "world language" thing wouldn't work, because different dialects, ways of speaking, and different sayings/proverbs would forget it up.
The ''world language'' thing may work if it's extremely simple compared to every other language, making it the easiest language to learn in the world. However, it would be very difficult to other people. For example, if that ''world language'' uses the latin alphabet, it would be difficult to learn to japanese, chinese, korean, arabic, russian (and more) people because they use different alphabets. Well, you know, the most spoken language in the world is the english, so making ''world language'' would be a fail.
