Author Topic: New UI Theme?  (Read 2170 times)

(Note: I understand there's better things to focus on rather than GUIs and how they look. Like vehicle physics and that compatibility breaking update coming; however I'd just like to talk about possibly making a new GUI theme)

...And by GUI Theme I do not mean like in Client_Themes or that read-only stuff. I'm talking GUI+'s method. Quite honestly I loved what I saw in GUI+. It was something more modern and looked cleaner. Could we possibly get started on another GUI project very similar to GUI+, but actually finish it?

/discuss

Can I get a link to GUI+? Idk what it does and I can't find it.

EDIT: Also your font looks odd lol.

I tried searching it but I couldn't get my hands on it. It was unfinished and the OP just abandoned it.

EDIT: The OP literally removed everything from the topic so there's not much to show. http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=252443.0

I'm sure I have a backup of the download somewhere.

I have it.

Client_Themes is actually what you're looking for here. GUI+ could actually be compatible with it if it was ported to the Client_Themes system.

This is because Client_Themes is only a framework for people to create new themes. Nobody has utilized its advanced features yet that allow theme makers to do things like GUI+.

You have to remember nobody ever reads the readme in things they download.
Quote from: readme.txt
Replacement Images
------------------

To replace a default bitmap, place a file of the same name in your Theme_Whatever.zip file.

Custom Profiles
---------------

Client_Themes supports the replacement of default Blockland GUI profiles with custom ones. To use custom profiles, include a file in your theme called "profiles.cs". This file should contain only GuiControlProfiles.

Custom profiles must follow strict naming conventions. Profile names are structured like this::

   Theme_MyThemeName_OriginalPro fileName

GUI "Tweaks"
------------

If you need to make changes to the GUI, such as repositioning or adding elements, do so by creating a file called "tweaks.cs" in your theme package. This file can contain all necessary changes. It will be loaded after the theme images have been applied.

(Note: I understand there's better things to focus on rather than changing my entire font because of some friend ass font challenge and because im a handicap; however I'd just like to talk about possibly making a new GUI theme)

This wont have much support with other mods that add buttons or whatever to guis but im sure it would look good

it's really stupid that he removed everything from the topic, he could've at least kept the download

Well the sever images on the Join Server GUI don't work because he took down the server for that. The entire GUI were unfinished; can't play LAN.

EDIT:
Found what server the add-on connects to. Great exercise for me since I'm learning TorqueScript right now.

Code: [Select]
ServerBrowser_PrevTCP.connect("imager.blockotec.com:80")
I'm sure someone can easily host another server. I'm sure it only looks for the images on the Blockland.us servers page.

i understand that you have a mod you made for themes, but can you stop advertising it every time someone makes a topic about ui edits

Why? If people aren't using his add-on, they should be.

You seem to be the only person having a problem with this.
