Author Topic: WipEout is back. (Sortof)  (Read 1104 times)

Looks like the wipeout developers are hard at work making a new game.

While the racing footage in the video is actually test footage to make sure the game can handle high speeds without breaking, the best racing game of future times is pretty much coming back with a new interesting take on how a speedy future looks.

That is if anyone decides to fund it.

If EA decides to adopt this game I'd be okay with that.

reminds me of fzero
Fzero and WipEout are pmuch the only anti-gravity racing franchises out there.

Fzero is also more archaic and arcadey than wipeout, while wipeout is more "realistic" and doesn't have much for story or extreme combat. Plus it's always been a playstation exclusive.

Also, even though in Fzero the speedometre may say you're going faster, the structures and tracks are so large it doesn't feel like you're going mach 2 all the time. Wheras in Wipeout, the buildings are built much more to scale compared to real life, and each lap of the course is only about 20 seconds, and to do about 3 miles in that time, feels fairly quick. Also zone mode is hard as forget.

It's pretty cool stuff.

But the studio was shut down in 2012 after the release of Wipeout 2048.

not sure how much i like the idea of open roosterpits on ships, but hopefully there'll be enough variety in the final designs anyway

get the hell outta here with that

It's pretty cool stuff.

every race is like your own personal luau

Wait, like... the obstacle course wipe out?

there are so many uncultured plebes here

the cars in FF look like they're fixed to an invisible rail 2-3 feet over the ground

heh formula 1 looking cars, it looks like it's a F1 race set in 2085 or something.

yeah, that has to do with the video being more of a tech demo rather than functional gameplay.
apparently the devs are going to make it feel as close to WipEout as possible.

It doesnt seem like it has the tight turns that WipEout had and honestly that was my favorite part. It made everything challenging.

This seems like a "Sway left and right at high speeds" game

Also, CRAFTING? WHY?
