Author Topic: Creation of game with the TGE  (Read 12205 times)

I can't remember exactly what my teacher said, but he told me that learning C++ teaches you how to deal with debugging and the console at a much lower level. Also said first time Java learners usually have trouble debugging there programs where with C++, at the console level, is really easy.

This is what I've been told from my teacher. Maybe from a theoretical point of view it is how you say you've been told.

Yea I understand that people don't share the same opinions on the matter. It really depends on your ability really I think; an ability to learn fast and to adapt knowledge from IT + Maths. I've been learning Java for a few months now and I seem to be doing fine so if this C++ to Java thing is true then after I've done some more then the transition to C++ will be easier.

I've not done any Java game programming yet but am sure my method will work for game programming in both languages too.

EDIT: I've just created a topic on my forums. Interested? Post here!

I would recommend BlitzBasic for learning about object oriented programing - heres a link http://www.blitzbasic.com/

I'll have a look but in my learning of Java, OOP is covered so I think I'll be good on that side of things. Many thanks anyways!

Lex

heh, OOP. Reminds me of ZZT. <3

Make your own Rpg game :D
Idk im bored im learning how to make games too but i got a torque game design/making book at borders :D

HAHAHAHA awesome game idea Ephi! That really sounds like a lot of fun; you have to have vehicle damage with like squelching noises and such... would be a riot!

And Menen; which book do you have and what are you planning to do? If your interested in making a team or just want somewhere to post about your project please join my forums. Just had to change webhosts so the site is looking crap but the forums look ok with that new phpBB3. Feel free to anyways and that goes to anyone. I'm needing the members like!

Toodles.

ZZT is still out there. I've been searching for people who remember it because I'm sad that ZZT is dying. There's all sorts of variations, external editors, and toolkits on zzt.belsambar.net. Also, there's more games and some clones with more commands.

I know ZZT is still out there, it was awesome and still is.
Personally? I think we need a ZZT+ and make it better(I know of super ZZT, but still), keep the same graphical style, improve coding, add new objects, more possibilities, ect. It would attract more people to ZZT.
