Author Topic: Indie Dev Discovers: Don't forget with Gabe Newell.  (Read 2477 times)

OnTopic: The dev was stupid, he threatened to kill Gabe, he warranted that ban on himself, and along came the hate train.

It was an extremely poor decision for him to react like that. He deserved it in my opinion and he should not be acting like he did nothing wrong.

I'm going to post the same thing here that I said in the IGDA group.

"I think it's generally a good idea that if you're frustrated about something, you stay away from the short twitter responses and try go with a much longer, calmer blog approach."

Indie developers who've never done a PR job before need to probably do a bit of training in it, before using social media publicly. There's a lot of really careful things you need to know and do in order to either succeed or sink your business, especially when you're trying to be a professional.

bahaha oh my god

i hated this guy and i hated this game and i wanted them to disappear somehow so quakey fps roguelike things wouldn't be besmirched by it's existence but i didn't think he'd forgetin explode like this

this is the best thing ever, i'm gonna go dance on his self-induced grave

dude's a phil fish-tier loser

like MAN i don't like him or his partner or any of his work

like, you've heard the interviews, right? i was following PA's progress last year because i like the game conceptually and i really wanted someone to like offer them more budget to make a sequel or maybe a remake or something or an update that smooths out it's like hundred billion rough edges but then it turns out the devs are a pair of idiots who- even in the context of a professional journalistic interview that exists only to help them generate hype- spent all their time yelling at eachother and screaming about the money that they don't have but so desperately deserve because they're starving indie devs who made some game

like not even a particularly good game or anything or one that was well marketed. they seem not only like starfishs but also sort of entitled to this mysterious indie grant that all indies get because they're indies

i thought it was on rock paper shotgun but i can't find it now, but apparently the hate is still around so the interview must have existed in the first place

one guy in particular spent like the entire interview trashing basically anyone he had come in contact with during the game's development- including his co developer and his own family-, in addition to suddenly flipping around and acting all deferrent and polite to the guys running the interview like he was flipping a forgetin switch

on top of that the forgeter's even lamenting the fact that sending a literal death threat to the head of an influential company somehow led to him taking down his forgetin game on twitter holy stuff

"why is everyone mad at me? i just lashed out like an entitled jackass at a guy for giving me what i wanted in the first place"

Ah, yes. The indie gaming industry.

there's not really anything "ow the edg,,,,," about that post

him and phil fish are two arrogant cunts who think their games are platinum and that everyone is desperately in hopes for their games. they treat themselves as royalty and when someone thinks that their games are mediocre, they have a little tantrum and think "WELL IF I LEAVE THE INDUSTRY THEYLL BEG FOR ME TO COME BACK, MAKING ME EVEN RICHER AND COOLER"

fez was an amazing game imo and everyone on the dev team but phil fish are amazing, if it was phil alone it wouldn't have been a good game.

fez is meh imo

Paranautical Activity was a fun game too. This dev is nowhere close to as bad as Phil Fish.

fez is meh imo
i agree i think only its artwork was pretty but then again fish would not be incredulous to his obvious inspirations ie his nightmare cave story

this dude had it coming majorly and better yet he clearly isnt taking home any lessons about biting the hand that feeds you from this

also if fez is being discussed it was boring as forget
