Author Topic: PhotoMath app instantly scans math equations and instantly solves them  (Read 2745 times)

PhotoMath is a new app I found that instantly scans math equations and instantly solves them for you, right there. It also shows you the steps to solve it. Great for getting through math homework quickly where you already know how to solve the equations.
For iOS
For Windows Phone
For Android- Coming soon

Lol, i love this thing allready.

let's see this thing solve integral calculus

If you already know how to do the equations why would you need the app?

It's now going to be a race to see who can use this app the longest during their final exams.

If you already know how to do the equations why would you need the app?

To make sure you don't have a mistake.

Completely subverting the goal of learning through repetition, but hey at least when more of the population becomes lazy from technology, it will cause people to rely even more on the folks like myself who make and fix technology.

Or, you know, you could actually do the homework and improve on your math skills, even if you "already know how to do it", because it helps you actually improve and because you won't (at least shouldn't) have it on a test.

To make sure you don't have a mistake.
He said to "get through homework faster" so that implies using it without doing actual math and using this to check

You can speed right through the equations.
The thing I hate the MOST is doing math homework when I know how to solve the equations. Waste of time.

You can check your answers by putting your answer back in for x and seeing if it equals correctly. (in basic algebra)

This guy gets it

Completely subverting the goal of learning through repetition
Repetition is half of the learning process. You also need a reason. If they brain believes what you are doing is pointless towards your existence (a weird study in and of itself), then it will trigger boredom-defences and you won't learn, no matter how much you study.

You cannot force your brain to learn something it doesn't want to.

I see nothing wrong with using this to just check your work in a quick and efficient manner, but I think we all know that only 10% of people who use it will have that intent.

You can force yourself to sit down, do math homework and be better at, if not understanding the material, regurgitating the process on future assessments.

I might be biased on this because I love math, but it works for me for language classes. Also, it's worth noting that Setro posted a topic earlier this week asking for math help and saying "I can't fail another math course." If you can't fail another math course, do the work. Not that hard.
