Author Topic: The problem with that "NYC Street harrassment" video and more (check page 2)  (Read 1207 times)

a quick experiment revealed that, by using the same logic as the original video, men get about as much "street harassment"

The original video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1XGPvbWn0A) had 2 minutes of cherrypicked content from over 10 hours, and if that wasn't dumb enough, they edited white street harassers out of the video

so yeah the "groundbreaking catcalling feminist video" is bullstuff surprising nobody

so if I strike a gay walk cycle I too will get compliments?

Its like people are just figuring out that street scum exist

they edited white street harassers out of the video
I don't think they actually did this.

edit: Actually, in the link OP posted, there's another link, which contains a quote which explains it:
Quote
At the end they claim the woman experienced 100-plus incidents of harassment “involving people of all backgrounds.” Since that obviously doesn’t show up in the video, Bliss addressed it in a post. He wrote, “We got a fair amount of white guys, but for whatever reason, a lot of what they said was in passing, or off camera,” or was ruined by a siren or other noise.
Still, the video's stuff, and the opposition to the video is stuff.

Some of the stuff in the video isn't even what I'd consider to be "oppressing".

lol this stuff happens in argentina but like they are very direct
"bitch give me that ass right now or ill take it from you" and some following
women dont even complain about it

What's with all this stuff about women being oppressed.
This isn't the middle east for forget's sake.

I understand and can get alongside the idea of what they are trying to express, but the way they did it, (being deceitful and such) I cannot.

Funny you mention that. People in the original video berated the woman for dressing the way she did, that she wouldn't have been catcalled so much if she was dressed more modestly. First of all, holy forget its a black tshirt and black jeans. Second, I feel like women would have to dress like they do in the middle east for these "victim blamers" to be satiated. Its the idea that women don't want to be like that, where men control all aspects of their life.

half of what she hand picked wasnt even harassment. even if the guys were hitting on her they weren't saying or doing anything inappropriate.

loving woman are stupid

"girl you're hot"
"OMG I AM SO OPPRESSED AND HARASSED"

"girl you're hot"
"OMG I AM SO OPPRESSED AND HARASSED"
Women have separate bathrooms from men just like the blacks had separate bathrooms from the whites.
OPPRESSION

"girl you're hot"
"OMG I AM SO OPPRESSED AND HARASSED"

a lot of it was just "hello there" or some weird passive stuff like "have a nice day there"
hardly harassing lol. just woman trying to be victims.

she's just being complimented

what is the issue

"god bless you ma'am"

SO OPPRESSED

she's just being complimented

what is the issue
trust me people hate when you say "its a compliment" because "it's still harassment" i guess because it's unwanted
