Author Topic: Playing Windows XP game on Windows 7, would it work?  (Read 392 times)

I want to go back in time and play some old PC games, like NHL 2003 and such. The minimum system requirements say Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, and I have Windows 7. Would it still work?

This definitely has a simple answer, so go ahead and call me stupid, but at least answer it

Most likely yes.
If no, check compatibility mode on the game.
If still no, try a virtual OS.

it depends on the game.

for example, my age-old copy of Homeworld says its at maximum compatible with Windows 2000, but it still runs fine on Windows 7.

however, other games simply may not be compatible and will not recognize your drivers as valid, usually because they're too advanced or don't support the formats the game runs on.

Well, NHL 2003 made me restart my computer 4 times. Thanks guys, I'm about to try my dad's old copy of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War CrCIA. He used to be one hell of a gamer when he game to the US from Poland
