Author Topic: Blockland with xbox controller  (Read 2672 times)

(xbox 1 or 360) i want it to happen plz c:

blockland uses too many button inputs for an xbox controller. please search for similar topics before posting your own.

I had a theory the other day for how to successfully do this.
The back/start buttons could be used to switch between inputs, so back could be a building mode, and start could be combat mode.
(Yes I know this would take a lot of scripting)

use xpadder you dingus

Not possible. At all. I've thought long and hard about this and I can't think of a single way to make this happen.

If you find the proper stuff to make the controller connect then you can use Joy2Key and if you do what Mr.Blocko said then it is possible. I used to play BL on a controller.

Blockland actually supports controller input. Nobody's made an easy-to-use script, though. I'd do it if I had a controller to test with.

Think about it, actually-

Xbox button- idk
Start- Menu
Select- switch between build and combat mode
LB- 3RD/1ST Person switch
RB- Paint
DPAD- Weapon select/build directions
Right joystick- Look/Mouse Cursor
Left joystick- Move
A- Jump
B- Brick Buy
X- Emote/Action
Y- Light
Left trigger- Crouch
Right Trigger- Hit/Place brick

To do actions like light, sit, and others, you would probably need to combo buttons, like x+y, or a+b.

This is a keyboard+mouse game. Just like porting a game from controller input to keyboard+mouse input, you likely need to rethink the control approach when doing so. I don't think this is impossible because of the way k+m controls function. You just need to rethink the game a bit to make it work with a controller.

also, as greek said, torque supports gamepad input. the advantage this gives over something like joy2key is that joystick input will be processed as actual joystick input, rather than as a button press.

Xbox button- idk

The Xbox button would do what the Xbox button does, which is bringing up the Xbox menu.

And if there's a script, then theoretically a batch file could be made that runs Blockland with the script simultaneously. Or just have Blockland use a launch parameter to determine whether the game is being run to support controller input so you could still use Blockland with Steam.
