You can't get a more shorthand version of English. People from England are English.
Maybe you could say Angles. But that's inaccurate anyway, since strictly speaking the Angles are the Germanic tribe from Denmark. And while they did colonise England, that ancestry is less definitive of the modern English than the Normans are.
