Also, the first two characters in the teaser are black, and a female! They just doubled the amount of blacks and females they had in the first 6!

He's the character from Knights of the Old Republic, and mentioned (I think) in Knights of the Old Republic 2.
His legacy and such is further carried on in Star Wars The Old Republic (the MMO).
Plus probably some comic books and similar things.

He's not in any of the movies.

For a while after the rise of the Empire, they continued to use clones. They slowly phaser them out by recruiting regular humans.
