What about trying to replicate a brick wall pattern, etc. I use 2×2s and 2×4s constantly for brick wall patterns.
You can do such a thing but do not overuse it.
Make maximum one of the four walls out of brick wall pattern.
Maybe just the 2 bottom layers of a wall is also a good thing.
The lower the brick count, the better.
Also,
I can not stress this enough, do
NOT use symmetry.
Especially with regular houses.
Just walk around in most neighborhoods, I bet you that none of them are symmetric.
Unless it is one of those prefab neighborhoods build by the state.
