Good call, man. Still can't believe this is the first time I've ever been a victim of this stuff.

how not to get scammed:

Thats great if you don't use trade sites, though i don't know why people make their profile private at all.

Some people don't use steam for social gaming at all. It's literally just a tool to play games by themselves, or online without interacting with others outside of the game.

If the person isn't a bot, exploit them back and

1. Act stupid and vunreable
2. Ask for a few steam items such as cards or tf2 items to check their real( theyll expect them back if they are getting your account )
3. Profit from a small gain

this really only applies to some cases though

This doesn't look suspicious at all.

Also, from what I've seen, block anyone named [unassigned].Block anyone at a low steam level and lots of friends.Block anyone with a private profile/not set up profile. Also if you're on tf2OP or any other trading website make sure to tell everybody NOT to add you without notice.

Block anyone at a low steam level and lots of friends.
This is incredibly inconsiderate, holy stuff. "You have to have wasted this much of your life to be my friend!!"

Getting these now. Got it twice last night
wtf

really

REALLY

THAT loving HAS "MAL" IN IT

except its a good way to test its, except for the friends thing

What i noticed is that the name would be sketchy, their level is very low, and on multiple occasions their profile is private. I also noticed they tend to have the same avatar.

Another thing you can do is just block anyone you don't know. Simple as that. If it seems legit i check the profile for anything that we have in common, such as groups, friends or games. If none of those apply or their profile is private, i block them.

Or you can be logical and send them a message like "How much is a dozen plus 5?" and if they don't answer you and say something totally irrelevant multiple times then remove them

That and don't click on suspicious links, and if a link you clicked downloaded a file and you don't know what it is, don't click on the file.
