Id rather just shut down

Why? Hibernating is exactly the same, except Windows boots faster, and you don't need for startup programs to open.

Windows 8 takes about 5 seconds to boot for me anyway, so I guess it doesnt really matter for me

One of the first things I download after installing Windows. Love it.

Still faster and easier to hibernate.

I always use this program to help clean things up

Its amazing

What does hibernate even do?

Jesus Christ, Star Citizen takes up a whopping 20GB...

What does hibernate even do?

Saves what's in the RAM to your hard drive and shuts down the computer, then when you turn it back on, it just loads everything back into the RAM, so you can continue where you left off.

So you can hibernate then remove all power to the machine and it still boots up just as fast?

Yes. It powers the computer completely off.

Holy forget, just found a 2-hour Planetside 2 video taking up 50GBs.

Thanks, blockguy, I needed this a lot apparently.

Why not use Sleep? It's even faster and easier and doesn't eat up a bunch of space.

Cause sleep doesn't shut your computer off. If you lose power, you lose whatever you were doing.

If you don't save things before you go away, that's your problem. Don't blame it on the power cutting out.

It's not about blame, it's about convenience. The point is hibernate doesn't need power in the first place.
