Author Topic: Idea for when there is an engine upgrade #Badspot  (Read 622 times)

If there is an engine upgrade id like some updates with the sound design features.

Currently sounds overlap each other and cut out when played at fast rates such as a high fire rate Weapon. For example an AEK-971 Assault rifle shoots at 900 rpm, i have a sound that includes the shot, mechanical action and reflection the gun makes, this whole sound is about 2 seconds but the gun fires so fast in blockland that the sound gets cut off because it is being overlapped by the same sound 900 times a minute.

So here is what i suggest, ive been doing some modding for Battlefield 2 which uses the Refractor 2 engine and the cool thing about this is that there are multiple options to sound design.
For example, you can take a recording of a 5 second long burst from an Assault rifle, add regions where the sound starts and stops and then code it to when the player clicks or clicks and holds, the sound starts, but as soon as the player releases the mouse button the sound stops. However in the refractor engine which uses .Tweak files, its as easy as

But if this aint possible at least make it so sounds dont overlap each other, because its just flat out annoying!
