Author Topic: Accidently drank scalding hot water, how bad would the burn be?  (Read 2534 times)

I was cleaning out my family's Keurig from the limescale building up in it, so I ran a couple of hot water cycles through it to rinse the descaling fluid I put through it. Well, I also made myself some hot cocoa while doing this, so as I was reaching to take a sip, I accidently picked up a mug of hot water heated at 192 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to ~89 degrees Celsius.

I experienced a little pain yesterday when this happened, but now the roof of my mouth and my tongue are numb and I have limited taste right now. I didn't swallow the water, I literally spit it out the split second after I drank it. But, what degree of a burn would I have from this? Should I check this out or not?

it will burn like forget going down your esophagus, but it may cause maybe blistering.

The nerves just shut down for a bit, give it some time and it'll come back.

its gonna make your tongue feel really raw for awhile but if you spit it out thats really it aside from maybe a little pain on the roof of your mouth
i wouldnt worry unless your mouth literally has blisters or is visibly damaged besides a little redness

when you eat or drink something hot, it burns like forget going down your esophagus. imagine something just below boiling point going down your throat.

i make hot chocolate literally every day with a keurig
