no matter how long ago the post was, or how many accounts they make, people don't change.

I'm honestly tired of hearing this bullstuff over and over again, from the same people, on the same instances. I understand that Badspot postulated this, and I understand why certain people want to jump on bandwagons and quote him on every chance that you guys can possibly find, even without using legitimate context. I agree that 'people can't change' but it certainly doesn't mean that people can't adapt the environment and learn from their mistakes.


'People can't change', but people can age their logic through various tactics, including in Furling's case, trial and error. He received a great deal of criticism because of his poor grammar, most of which Furling has improved since that post. A few grammatical errors can still be found in his later posts, but for the most part, he bettered his grammar to the point which it was barely noticeable. He didn't change at all, but he adapted from his criticism. His 'clickbait' threads was a reasonable notice to some, but from the time I've been here, I personally enjoyed his news threads as I would any other informational topic. Albeit, he made a relatively large number of them, but each one had enough quality to distinguish themselves among 'spam'. He provided his source, gave his opinion about the subject, and requested that others do the same. That alone reaches far above the content of most other threads I've seen.


Why this forum's renowned idiots can't 'change' is because they won't learn. Furling already improved himself for a while now, and probably would continue to if he didn't quit. It's sad how he left, but the reason on why he left seemed a bit minor, I speculate that something else bothered him at the time; Instead of locking his topic, he could have only asked for the thread to stay off his condition and remain on-topic. It's sad to see him go on such small warning, but apparently his welcome was long overdue anyways.




I'm sorry for the rant, but from the short time that I've been on here, I have expressively enjoyed Furling on this forum.

Everyone is a loving richard to Furling.
He wants to be a part of this forums like I do, like everyone else does.
Sure, we have our weird flaws, (furling is deaf, Rockinboy stuff on his carpet at one point, I cheered furry gas convention) and so on.
That's what makes us into a person, our flaws and differences.
I'm sure that he doesn't like being loving belittled but nobody gives a stuff right? It's probably funny to the 1/3 of the forums that made fun of him. Isn't really that funny to him. I didn't like people when they splattered my face on stuffty Hatred trailer edits, still funny to the forums. I may have made fun of horrible things, but holy stuff. Making fun of someone because they're deaf? Come on already, this is why the community is going to have a reduced lifespan, because apparentally scaring the users away from the game and having the forums, which is the core community of the game makes the game just look bad in its entirety. Call me a hypocrite, call me a "dumb autist" even though I'm not, I don't give a stuff. This is why we scare new users away and why I was under a alternate account almost over a year ago. I realized that Furling isn't that bad of a person and he won't be. He's a loving kid who just wants to have fun on a game without being called "deaf". I'm a kid who wants to have fun on this forum and I have forgeted up way too many times for it, so the last sliver of reputation I ever had was probably thrown under the bus when I made the post that sealed it, this is one of the biggest efforts in attempting to have people understand I have ever posted will probably be this rant, but Furling hasn't done anything. Bringing up the "users don't change" stuff is also another topic I have to point out.

Look at several old accounts on this forum, some have bad grammar and really little knowhow of the basic functioning of this community, overtime they have adapted to us, the community. Why did half the old users leave? Because A. We scared them off and they realized they dont want to be in a convuluted clusterforget, or B. They're getting on with their lives.
Blockland will never die, but it's reputation soon will if people are going to be belittled by this, It will scare off new users, therefore eventually turning the community into a deserted message board.

people want to keep this game to its small community by making new users feel bad, what they dont realise is that most of them dont even know these forums exist, and just play the game itself happily. it's great, because they never need to feel threatened or flamed for playing a freaking lego sandbox game.

sorry for a double post but

from what i understand, deaf people communicate with their hands, not really using letters. he has been deaf for his whole life so he probably never got any experience putting actual english together, just using his hands to talk

There's a huge difference between you and furling. You're an starfish; furling isn't (as much). Don't mean to turn this into a huge derail towards you, but it's true.

So, the grammar of English sign language is very different from the grammar of Standard English. As such, learning ASL (American Sign Language), which I assume that Furling learned for much of his life (assuming he was born deaf), would result in him using the grammatical structure of ASL, even in writing. This is why his sentence structure is very different from what you'd expect, since he didn't learn the Standard English grammar or sentence structure, but instead that of ASL. I assume he has to try very hard to adjust to the Standard English sentence structure at all times. It's like trying to type in English with the French sentence structure, the meaning of the sentence will still be there, but people will think the grammar is bad.

ASL and Standard English are basically different dialects when you consider them in their written form. This is because signing isn't just using hand movements to substitute for words. Signing has its own word order and way of saying things. Furling has to put effort into making his sentences fit with the Standard grammar and sentence structure.

So, if you ask me, his grammar isn't bad per se, it's just not Standard English grammar. To someone who is deaf (and fluent in ASL), the way that furling types is more natural than the way that you do, because that's how people who use sign language think.

(Sorry for making assumptions about the way that people think, but this is just as I understand it. My mom took sign language for a couple years, so this is what I've picked up)
