I don't think it's buggy. But God damn it's brutal.
The pit kiln update(s) however made it 200% easier since you don't have to get into the more complex crafting mechanics to do stuff, which is actually kind of sad.

I only wish it was included in a Launcher because installing it by hand is kinda meh-y.

i'm pretty sure you can only use pit kilns to cast bronze and tier 1 metals though, so you still have to start going up the anvil line if you wanna start making stuff like iron or steel

Wrong. You can still do it. You can make alloys in Pit Kilns.

Using the jugs filled with metal you can pour them straight into tool molds.
