this is getting ridiculous.
Was I the only one counting down until the forums tried to go all detective to figure out if Terra is really a girl. The moment she joined I knew a topic was right around the corner.
I'm with this, except I knew when I read through the "weirdest things someone has said to you" thread and read through the responses.
That was out like yesterday, I already said there is an explanation and it isn't worth explaining
But I'll stand by my position and say I'm not Watt-son/Minotaur, believe it or not
I've never understood this, is this just a thing with the blockland forums where you shun everyone until they prove who they are? This is the only community I've seen that pulls this stuff and it's pretty hysterical
I've got plenty of friends that support me, so a couple of kiddos getting mad and saying I'm not who I am really doesn't mean anything to me
ok I'm going to take this one apart and point out the issues here.

It isn't the only one I've seen, so maybe you sorta need to look around a bit more. Rally has kind of a point in terms of the likelihood of you being a lying liar who lies; personally I think it's more of an "ego booster" for some of the dudes who pretend to be ladies, because suddenly they have some idiots defending them for no particular reason. Also, the forum still remembers folks like Skull Candy.

I'm actually really curious to hear the explanation, but that's me personally. PM it if you want.

I see people who are at your throat and I see people who don't think this warrants a drama, but I don't see much in the way of supporters, but then again I skim.
i don't mind support, but it's people like you that blatantly 'white knighting' and making me look like an attention whore, and i'm not even trying to be one
this might actually be a little bit accurate. I know on a site with a decidedly different m/f ratio I wound up looking like an attention whore by mistake.
Nothing here seems to point out how this is damaging to the community or this website. Would you care to explain the real issue here, or more specifically, how this damages this website?
The underlying issue here is that we think we see someone trying to constantly draw attention to their female-ness so that they can smooth-talk bystanders into giving them either A) free games or B) a free ego boost, and either way we don't like it when people do that.
My guess about the trigger issue here that set off this bomb is that Ms. Terra drew too much attention to being female way too fast. To me, it seems like a more serious version of "Have I mentioned I am female today?", but again, that's just me and I have personal problems, so take that as you will.
New users tend to follow one of two patterns.
1. They will post very frequently and make massive fools of themselves, getting a lot of negative attention really really fast,
or 2. They will post slowly, taking the time to learn the ins and outs of the forum, and their post count will slowly rise until people have noticed them over time.
Those are the two patterns most frequently followed by new users from what I've seen. My guess is that when we see a new user who DOESN'T fall into one of those two patterns, we start going "alt alt alt", because most new users do fall into one of those patterns. It's not exactly sound statistics but it's a pretty common step.
In this case, you didn't fall into one of the two patterns AND you drew attention to your female-ness, leading several forumers to speculate about your motives. It should be noted that several other forumers have fallen to whiteknight traps before.
Now to address the posts that were made while I was typing:
I personally don't see a problem about posting a lot. I only see problems if the posts are generally useless. From what I've seen, Ms. Terra has posted topic prompting discussion. What is the issue here.
See above regarding new user patterns.
That ratio exists partly due to this whole interrogation thing every girl is forced to go through on here. This community just oozes hostility toward the female love. Then it performs a switcharoo out of nowhere and starts treating the same person like a freaking goddess. Like does anyone remember the HUGE dramas over stocking? How everyone hounded her for pictures of herself? Hundreds of pages of drama over the stupidest thing.
Except Stocking actually got loads of free games out of people. So did bubbagum iirc. Those are the only two that come to mind as drama generators, though. Example: nobody was really asking if Kitty Moonlight was really a girl when she started off in a pseudo-idiocy phase (and provoked an excessively harsh reaction).
Anyway that's just my whole take on the situation and it may or may not accurately reflect reality at 1:00 AM.
