Author Topic: Any ideas on how to fix Xbox 360 stick drifting?  (Read 1701 times)

My Rock Candy Xbox 360 controller keeps screwing around with me, it moves to the bottom left corner without any input from my end. I have tried calibrating and using numerous ports but nothing is working.

Sounds like your stick deadzones are too low. Increase them, so that the computer won't take any input from the sticks until they reach a certain point.

How do I do that?

If you're on Xbox: Too bad, get a new controller.

If you're on a PC: It depends on the game. You usually have to tweak a configuration file (usually an .ini file) in the game's saves folder. If you use XPadder or certain game emulators, they let you tweak dead zones in the settings menu.

I get this same issue with one of my controllers. For me the issue is the stick has this permanent tilt offset, it's almost impossible to get the stick to perfectly center anymore.

Either way, I would recommend the options McJob provided.

Okay so I just learned a little bit more about the situation, even with no controller installed, some games still more on their own. How is that so?
Games this has occured on:
Sonic Generations
Assassin's Creed 4
Battleblock Theater

EDIT I found out why this issue occurred: I had vjoy devices installed so I could use Gamecube Controllers on the PC, I uninstalled those since even without the adapter plugged in, the devices gave some ghost inputs.
