Author Topic: Userscript where people can change their name on BLF?  (Read 1143 times)

Like you download a userscript wich connects to a databse from a website, on the website you can request a new username for BLF and admins can approve or reject changes. If approved the database (or w/e) will update and the userscript will apply changes.
Or something...
We so need this.
Is this possible?

Not gonna happen. As it is, Badspot only changes people's forum names if it's a small request, they beg him really nicely, and he's in a good mood. Also, I don't think that the total of three(?) moderators want to spend their time going through tons of name change requests all day.

Ahw

or have the script connect to a database of name changes to display, all user made and no integration to the current system
which would cause a decent amount of confusion

It would be a real bitch keeping track of the forgeters who would change their avatar and name daily. Steams got that down to a science already.

Why would it be a userscript if Badspot had something to do with it himself? That would be needlessly complicated, when he could just add an option for it somewhere in the profile settings.

I know there's a client-side version of this that somebody made

Or set a monthly limit to that IP
Or you register on the site and then you can change your name. With a monthly limit.

Just set a nickname for them, then you'll still know who they are if they change both

Can also search for the nickname in friend list so that isn't really a problem at all

least you can do right now is download the chrome extension that replaces certain words with other words, so you can just put in your current username and replace it with your new username. others won't see it, but it's the closest you'll get to being able to change your name at the moment
