The code that recognises what OS a program is made for sees "Windows 9" as 95 or 98 so they skipped it

I think the Upgrade tool only checks your OS and if it is "genuine". So, it is likely that people who pirated the OS will get it for free.

i'm pretty sure you have to put in that activation code thing to make it "genuine", because i know for pirated windows' they have the whole "this windows is unregistered" and "you may be a victim of fraud" or w/e (never actually pirated windows, but i have seen people who do)

its not subscription based, they're just probably doing this as a promotion, which I'm okay with. You'll probably be able to get it for cheap at that subreddit for windows keys, the ones that buy them in bulk ya know

my guess is that they'll be $30 there and $70 full price, maybe a discount if you already have Windows installed, has pricing been announced yet?
