My grandfather was in WW2

My mom doesn't even know what he did, he never talked about it.

I wanna see the picture! :D

dont have access. don't think uncle has access either.

well sense my dad is old enough to be the generic grandpa (well he is one so yeah) im going to tell his vi-et-nam storys.

keep in mind he told me these stories years back so they may be a bit off

he was drafted into the army while he has taking college, so he finished up his term first before they pulled him (or he just went, i dont remember, either way he was drafted in college). when he was with the rest of the draftees, they announced that they need some people to join the marine corps. no one volunteered there, so they went to discuss who they were going to pull, and lo and behold, they picked all of those who went to college. so he got drafted into the marines.

he was only in combat for a year, although he was stationed in california. the only story when he was in the states i can remember is that one of his buddy's buddy got a fancy new car, and within a week, he ended up completely totaling it and got taken to the hospital. don't know what happened to him as my dad was stationed another place soon after.

one of his stories while he was actually in vietnam was one of the days he first there a battle was happening near where he was staying. it was the night, wasn't a land battle, and they couldn't do much so they just watched the battle go on on a nearby beach. the next morning they went back to that same beach and just a couple of meters away from him was a dud bomb laying in the sand.

another lucky moment he had there was when he forgot his rifle some place near. he was coming to get it while on a bridge, someone started shooting at him with a pistol in the river. he was incredibly close, but somehow completely missed every single shot. my dad got away safely.

he didn't really tell me of any generic bad ass moments, he even said that he hoped he never killed anyone. i don't mind that, he's still a cool guy.

also i think his dad served during wwii but he never really told much of his parents so idk.

i thought they couldn't draft you if you were in college? i may be wrong

current drafting law

"Under the current draft law, a college student can have his induction postponed only until the end of the current semester. A senior can be postponed until the end of the academic year."

i thought they couldn't draft you if you were in college? i may be wrong
Used to be like that i think, but they've changed the rules so that most exemptions wont keep you out anymore unless its religious or a severe enough disability

i don't have to go into war if a draft happens because i have mental illnesses that keep me from doing so B)

My grandma was one of 15 kids. She has plenty of interesting stories.

One of my favorites is the time she was mad at one of her sisters for wearing her clothes. She offered to  finish baking her sister's cake that was in the oven, while her sister was outside with her friends.

My grandma took the cake out of the oven, took it outside, and dumped it on her sisters head.

My grandpa lived next to an insane asylum, he met an escaped inmate once who had dwarfism.
He also fought in the Rhodesian war.

My great grandpa was in a shipwreck and was marooned on an exotic island for a while.

neither of my biological grandfathers are in my life, and my grandmothers either never took interest in telling stories or just don't have any

my grandad's entire LIFE STORY
he met nixon once, i asked what he was like and he said "an ass"

your grandpa met an insane midget once?
he must have lived the life back then.

My mom's mother was just 44 when I was born lol

My grandpa (her husband) told me a story of when he met her. He was already engaged to marry another woman and knew my grandma through her brother-in-law. He fell in love with her so he relentlessly teased his fiancee eventually making her so mad that she ripped the ring off and threw it on the ground. My grandpa was just like, "k lol" and married my grandma.

not my grandpa but my uncle while telling stories to his granddaughters
"See that bridge? That's where I hung those cow tippers. Had to send a message that cow tipping ain't tolerated around these parts."

man i dont have anything cool
ive never met my granddads and my grandmas were basically pretty dull overall..

They made my parents who made me and I'm awesome
