Quote
World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) created in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994. World of Warcraft takes place within the Warcraft world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard's previous Warcraft release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001. The game was released on November 23, 2004, on the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.

Factions and Races

The Alliance
Quote
The Alliance has been present in some form in all Warcraft games. In all three real-time strategy games, the Alliance are the protagonists of their campaign, and are one of the two main protagonist factions in World of Warcraft. They are also the primary antagonists of Warcraft and the orc campaigns in Warcraft II.

The Horde
Quote
In the first two Warcraft games, the Horde is made of the orcs under the command of the Burning Legion and are enemies of the human led Alliance. The orcs attempt in both games to conquer the human kingdoms. Eventually the Horde was defeated, most of its leaders killed, and the orcs placed in internment camps.

Races
Each faction has 7 races and a Pandaren. A Pandaren (or Panda) can choose who he wants to be with later on. I am not going to list all the races here because it would take up too much space. For more information go to http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/game/race/
Each race starts in their own area.

Purchase and subscription model
To play World of Warcraft, you need to have the base game AND an active subscription. You can buy a Battle Chest (A Battle Chest contains CDs for the original game and The Burning Crusade, but you can play all the expansions excluding Warlords of Draenor with the code inside, it grants you a free 30 day game time). It contains a 30 day game time code. After the game time code has expired, you will need to buy an ongoing subscription. You can buy one for a month, 2 months or half a year. To play Warlords of Draenor you will need to purchase the expansion for 50 dollars.

Starter Edition
If you register a battle.net account, you can play the World of Warcraft Starter Edition. It allows playing up to level 20. It also has some drawbacks.

I remember I used to play this a lot back in high school with some friends. The most we got was, and excuse me for butchering this because I don't remember, but I think it was Nagrarand? Anyway it had a bunch of goats and that's when we kinda stopped.

Think it was lvl 73 Night Elf Hunter. Oh well.

my friend is an avid WoWer (been playing since he was 4 and still plays today)
i tried to play with him yesterday but my stuffputer crapped out when the game tried to start
he used to play with his dad all the time and always told me about his adventures
and then one day his dad had a heart attack and died
he took over that account and keeps his dad's character to this day

I recently ran out of subtime, my monk was almost 90. I also had a 90 DK, a 82 druid, a 77 lock, and a 66 mage, along with various lower level characters.

I quit in 2011 at level 85 during cataclysm.

It was so relieving to quit.

I bought every single mount that was on sale on their pet shop.

And some of the pets too.

I feel ashamed and kinda regret it because it's useless without the subscription time.

I played WoW for 7 years before I rediscovered BL. Actually lost brain cells. Left after I had about 12 level 80's. Did some impressive stuff in that game, but I honestly don't think it was worth it. Then again I was basically braindead at the time, so it was enjoyable. Not saying the game makes you braindead, I just had no self control back then.

My older brother died in a car crash while rushing home to play World of Warcraft.
So yeah, I stopped playing right after Wrath, not by choice though.

give me some of your names so i can add you to op guys :D

My only 85 was a night elf hunter called Rigelk

In case i ever get time again, my second primary is a nightelf monk named kungfuelf, my main is a DK named Warchur

My younger brother plays everyday, he has like 7 90's or something
