What does Cyanogen even do. I have never heard of them before this.
CyanogenMod is a custom ROM that you can install that lets you do a lot more with your android device if it is supported.

You need a Google account to upload content to a Google service. What is wrong with that?

Google+ is a Google service. With a Google account you automatically have access to all the public Google services through it. What is surprising about that you got access to Google+ as well?
Right, I understand all this, I guess I just find it unessesary. You outta be given the choice if you want a Google+ account or not when you make your YouTube account.
It's a bit silly to force everyone with a Youtube account to also have a Google+ account. That's like, 2 accounts for the same basic stuff. (not to mention a nice waste of bandwidth: not that Google cares about that, though)

I understand Google's trying to "fuse" Youtube and Google+, but it just seems a bit too much. It's like saying I can only order a pizza with mushrooms if it also has cheese. Maybe I just want mushrooms and no cheese? Maybe I only want the cheese? Why do I have to have both?? It's like saying you have to have a Blockland key in order to comment on Badspot.us

It just seems a bit pointless, although I understand the "convenience" Google is trying to pursue. To me it seems like more of a burden (having to set up the Google+ account that you never really wanted in the first place)

I can't find any examples of what "a lot more" is.

I assume its for mounting images to android devices? Ive never heard of it myself. I just use I/O file manager and emulators on my android OS

You are not making a YouTube account. YouTube uses Google accounts. By signing up for YouTube you are making a Google account. A Google account, a YouTube account and a Google+ account are all the same thing. There is no "extra account" being made just for Google+.

i bet he was drunk
please say he was on weed
this cant be happening
nooo
why are you saying this?

Yes, yes, I understand. It's no different than using Facebook to log into Instagram or some other site (pinterest, etc) The point I am trying to make is that some people prefer them separate. Google did not originally own YouTube, so when they bought it, they made everyone who had a previous Youtube Account also have a Google+ account. It goes back to: I only want the mushrooms, and not the cheese. I only want to upload Youtube Videos to my channel; I do not want or need the Google+ "Facebook Rip-off/Clone" stuff.

a bunch of geezers who think theyre pro because they can edit android roms

I dropped Cyanogen a long time ago, their company is a joke

I actually considered installing Cyanogen because I am kinda sick of having all the bloatware on my phone, being able to only barely disable it. I am also using 700 out of 800 MB RAM for no reason and certain apps shut down randomly. I am just kinda scared of the process and all.

Anyway the only issue I can see with this is the lack of Google Apps, outside of that everything would be as perfect as possible for this. (I don't see why are people supporting Google on this cause / hating on Cyanogen).
If they make their market app with actual quality control I'm also sold twice.

Gets rid of all the OEM bloatware, forced OEM UI and gives you more access on what you can actually remove on your device regarding apps. (You can remove what you can currently only disable, and you can remove what you can't even disable). Also allows you to receive updates for the phone beyond the point of your carrier / Kies. Cyanogen mod continues support of old devices which have been lost in the sands of time. Galaxy Note N7000, which I have, has stopped official support at 4.1.2 Jellybean. Well if I install Cyanogen I get could get KitKat.

An app literally shut down on me as I edited this now. 10/10.

nonono these guys r dumb let the android vet explain.

stock AOSP (android open source project) is on the nexus devices and only can be ran on their devices in their pure form unless you build AOSP yourself for your device. what cyanogenmod is a combination of this said AOSP code and their code to run is on hundreds of non-nexus devices. there is also more customization of the rom compared to what google shipped android with, like changing the clock's postion, changing the battery icon, overclocking, theming, etc.

this also ships with superuser aka root which means you have literally access to the entire rom and all it's nooks and crannies.

right now i'm actually using cyanogenmod 12 because my nexus 5 was getting bombed by the memory leak in lollipop stock. google is being a cunt by holding the fix for the next release but in all seriousness THEY NEED TO SHIP THIS NOW. i hate the freezing and crashing that i get from stock and the stupid stuff that happens when the cache gets all sorts of forgeted from this bug.

if only omnirom shipped lollipop...

Get CCleaner for Android. It will help you reduce ram usage and aid in the removal of unwanted apps

I used Cyanogenmod before, switched back to stock TouchWiz.
Even though I do feel like Google is trying to shove their services in my face too much, don't really think having no Google interference at all would help things much either, but I'm interested in the idea.

What does Cyanogen even do. I have never heard of them before this.
Custom ROM, offers stock android experience, no bloatware (duh), more control over the device (Root, overclocking, governors and etc), themes, more frequent updates with latest android, better performance, yada yada, you get the point

There's apps out there that can remove bloatware, but require root.
Also, there are zips with google apps you can flash, they're just not pre-installed with cyanogenmod.

Also, there is actually an option to flash google apps, they're just not pre-installed with cyanogenmod.
That's how it's done anyway, but I meant, after this potential "get rid of Google" this will be dropped as well. I wasn't saying Cyanogen doesn't have Google Apps in it's current state.
