This thread will be about what kind of guitar you play, equipment, or anything guitar related so if you don't play guitar you may get confused! We'll be discussing what kind of guitar you own, it's specs, your equipment, and what kind of music you play.

Kinds of Guitars ( Most common )

Electric, My personal favorite, Electric guitars use metal strings and can be hooked up to an amp to make the guitar louder or put a drive on it to give the recognizable sound. Electric guitars are generally more expensive than acoustic but are tougher with a solid body instead of a hollow body.

Acoustic Electric, an Electric guitar with a hollow body and was most commonly used during the early years of Rock n roll, unlike the electric guitar you can play this without an amp as they are just Acoustic guitars with electric equipment in them.

Bass guitar, This guitar unlike the above use 4 strings instead of 6 and play lower notes than the electric, they are a important aspect for bands but not many people notice the bass when it is playing along with an electric.

Acoustic, This guitar is cheaper than an electric or bass and can use nylon strings for ease of the fingers, this group includes Classic, jumbo, and 12 string guitars.

Strings, what are the differences?
Different guitars use different strings but can differ in the metal used or how resilient they are. Acoustic guitar strings can be nylon or metal, Bass guitars use a thicker and lower sounding string, Electric guitars use metal strings that can be nickel or steel wound. Strings differ but you choose what string you prefer!

Metal strings VS Nylon strings
Many acoustic players will encounter this problem when just starting, Nylon strings are good for the fingers as they do not hurt as much as the metal but are less durable that metal strings. Before you mount nylon or metal strings make sure the guitar you're using can handle nylon or metal strings.

I picked up guitar to pick up dudes but I ended up becoming so addicted to playing the guitar that my hobby consumed my personal life, and now all I know is guitar

I play the electric guitar quite often. I suck at it, but hey, I enjoy it.

I don't play but boys who play are hot af for anyone.

I don't play but boys who play are hot af for anyone.

It really depends on how well they can play

if they're playing literally only to impress somebody, then it shows and it's just such a turn off

I play Electric and Acoustic occasionally.

I have an electric but a couple strings snapped off and I don't know how to restring.

i play guitar a lot but i've been in dire need of a new electric guitar for years. Pretty sure even a flippin $150 monoprice guitar would out perform my current one that i've had since I was 12. I guess since I got into electronic music and stuff i've been more interested in that type of hardware :(

I play acoustic & electric.

i've always thought girls who play bass are hot
plus, it's not like someone starts playing a bass just to pick up people, unlike a lot of guitarists lol

I got a guitar because I wanted to play a guitar for years but I was debating between Acoustic and Electric, I chose Electric because I like the slimmer body than the thicker body of the acoustic. Added to OP

my acoustic guitar has an electric pre-amp in it so I can plug it into my amp if I wanted to. At this point I'm sure it sounds better as an electric guitar than my actual electric guitar does.

All my guitars:

Schecter C-7 Hellraiser

Heavily modified Peavy "Rockmaster"

(I added a DiMarzio Titan humbucker, wired with push/pull for series/parallel, and a black pearloid pickguard)

Discontinued Ibanez EX Bass

Ovation Elite Standard Acoustic

In terms of amplification, I do all digital. I use a POD Farm VST when I record, or a newly found iPad/iPhone apps called JamUp and BIAS. I've been playing for about 6 years.

Here's a cover I did for Halo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0m4oxyAdjk

Prepare to enter the land of a broke newbie guitar player!

Fender medium picks
2 packs of Ernie Ball strings and 2 strings that came with the guitar, no High e strigns
Axl 10ft cable
one touch electric tuner
Maestro starter guitar, white and black

First act acoustic guitar, missing 2 strings and needs a case. May be getting a new acoustic guitar as it is not full size and I need a full size for my class as well as I hate smaller guitars.

my dad has two good-ish guitars (an electric and an acoustic) because we're both picking it up for fun

i like to goof around on my starcaster once in a while

not that good of a guitar, but i wasn't making a huge investment on that kind of career anyways
