I have nothing against a highly trained anti terror unit.  Something like a serious hostage situation should be dealt with by people who have a specialized job in dealing with exactly those situations.

On the other hand, I'm not ok with protesters being lumped into this.  I understand that someone needs to be there to handle protests that turn into riots, but the fact of the matter is, if people would stop generalizing white cops and black kids then things would go a lot better, and these types of "protests" probably wouldn't happen in the first place.
Isn't that what SWAT is for? And they can do it without (supposedly) GPMGs or HMGs?

Like honestly, the purpose of "machine-guns" are to lay down suppressing fire, which is essentially to riddle an area, building, etc. with as many bullets as possible in the shortest amount of time possible. If you're at the point where you need to do that the National Guard should be taking care of the situation, not the metropolitan police.

*sigh*
Everyone is doing everything wrong.

On police:
Those big MRAPs could come in handy, but you have to take into consideration how often those types of situations might occur. If you want to knock something down, you might as well use and armored bulldozer.  Most people aren't going to have time to lie out land mines or bobby traps out on a street and the only time that might happen is during American Civil War V2. They are big waste of money if you ask me, even the military hates them because of how much gas they consume. Currently the US military is going back to conventional style vehicles, so vehicles like the MRAP will find them selves gathering dust in some warehouse or up for auction. Plus they are big and heavy, think of all the road damage they could cause.

Machine guns is pretty controversial term. Generally the media likes to label anything with a fully automatic feature as a machine gun. equipped with machine guns could mean they got a bunch of AR15s and MP5s locked up in the back, it could mean they have an M2 Browning up top, or something like an M249 or and M240. I would sure as hell be concerned if I saw a police convoy with big armored vehicles with a dude poking out the top with a rifle or a mounted MG.

People:
Not all cops are bad, but there are many bad ones out there too. There are even bad politicians you guys vote into power, both democrats and republicans are scumbags. You should keep on eye on your politicians more, since they are ones that enable stuff like this. If I am a chief of police, I can't just reach out for some check book and buy all this stuff. I have to go through the chain of command to the city where they decide if we can buy all this stuff. Like I said, they are man children, complete scumbag. If were the guy who supported the police, funds them, and then some incidence of police brutality comes up, most likely you are going to be on the news camera shaming the police and calling them out just to save your ass.

To make things worse with all this so called hostile between police and people, I can see the number of militias going up. People on the street corners with guns protesting the big man. If do that, the city is going to go "look all these angry people with guns. They are terrorists! We need these soldier cops because they people want to hurt us! GRAB ALL DA GUNS FOR DA CHILDREN!".

Plus when you bring a gun a to a second amendment rights protest, you are the LGBT equivalent of an old guy who strips naked and says they are gay and proud while running down the street. No one wants to see that.

honestly people are protesting way too much now over like every black guy that dies
like they have a radar
when it goes off, they get their signs and march on

while in one way yes go scare people so they stop being an inconvenience i really dont hope they actually SHOOT anybody

nonviolent protesting is supposed to cause the same distress as violent protesting by being an annoyance, and as some famous person like martin king luther or whatever said (it was in history) stuff like this could be solved differently; infact that was during the times where protests were even more important than a black guy died

The Eric Garner protests (and riots) were mainly in outrage against the fact that the police officer who did it wasn't indicted.
We KNOW what happened. The cop killed the man.

Too busy doing no-knock raids for unpaid parking tickets.
