wtf they don't "last longer" where's your research with 100 trials

Bullstuff.

Apple products are known to last longer. My IMac ran fine for 4 years without anything more than internal-dusting and keeping the hard disk clear. It would have gone on for much longer if it weren't for me leaving it in direct sunlight in summer and having a connection fry. Much longer. I still boot it up every once in a while to recover old files.
That's not even close to what I was saying. But wow, 4 years, that's so long.

I don't know if this is sarcasm or not, but basically, yeah. They're fashion accessories, that double as (still pretty effective) tools for whatever computer stuff you do.
That's what I look for in a productivity tool, fashionable and expensive.

So... you wanting something means everyone else should want the same things? I guess that's one way of looking at it.

the point is, why? your computer can be as functional and possibly even better looking without whatever they're adding to make it double the cost. (probably just upping the price because money)

Point is, whatever the differences between the two, I prefer to play games on a PC and do just about everything else on a Mac. There is so much more ease of use, the interface is much more convenient and everything makes sense. While that is just a personal preference, I get immensely annoyed using a PC just because of the features it lacks and how much more clicking you have to do to accomplish the same thing.

No, THAT makes no sense.
Explain how that makes no sense. Mac OS X is just BSD except you're not allowed to change your desktop environment.

I'm glad all of this stuff is staying in one thread for once.

People like you are the reason people hate Apple and Apple iSheep, because you defend apple with handicapped comments like "because its not an imac" or "it is a fashion accessory".

Updated part list with a wireless networking card, speakers, keyboard and mouse. I also managed to find a better harddrive for less money. There are no options for bluetooth, but that could easily be added for less than $50.

Total price: $921.25 (Keep in mind that you could lower the GPU a little bit, the GTX 750 has even better performance than the GPU that's included with the iMac. The PSU might be a bit overkill too, IDK i'm no expert PC builder.)

You are paying more for the Software and the services that come with having an Apple computer, OSX, iCloud, etc. You also get an simple to use OS that requires close to none troubleshooting, and when you need help you can contact Apple support which is usually pretty quick. If all else fails you can run up to an Apple store and usually have your product fixed pretty quick depending on the problem.

Also the benifits of an Apple computer is dependent on personal preference, Apple computers are more for professional work than it is gaming. Also another factor is whether you use other Apple products/services, if you have an iOS device then they all work really well together; something Android/Windows has yet to catch up.

As I said earlier in the thread it all comes down to what your using it for and what you personally like.

i'm going to again old man shake my fist at the fact that you can't access the storage of any of apple's newer mobile devices to my knowledge which is totally dumb in literally every way i can think of

android/windows works fine because android doesn't lock your computer's (mobile phones are computers and i expect the same basic functionality from them that i expect from my desktop computer, this includes being able to access the files on it) storage.

android and windows are also not made by a single corporation that can provide some kind of unity between their products, nor are they related or grouped in any manner. i'm also going to put my tinfoil hat on real quick and say that apple somewhat intentionally de-prioritises windows support.

i'm not going to say mac is terrible and windows is superior or anything like that; apple's products and actions in the past have appeared to me very anti-consumer and so my opinion of the business is damaged as a result.

and let's be real for a second: apple products cost more because apple is the only one that makes them and they make them really nice and pretty and have pretty good marketing. they are obviously not worth the hardware they're made of; their entire 'meat' is in the presentation. it's most comparable to a luxury brand, but obv there are functional differences that make this brown townogy less effective.

Some of the benefits of Unix-like operating systems, prettier interface, and it's (probably) idiot proof.

I also heard Mac is good for art and stuff.

I agree, but I kinda go farther with the whole "mobile devices should work like computers" thing.
I want a device that can fit in my hand (phone or tablet sized) that can run desktop applications (windows or x11 idgaf) and give me root/admin access out of the box. I'd also like to be able to connect a mouse and keyboard (do you see where I'm going?) to get similar functionality to a laptop. Being able to dual boot it would be a big plus too.

and the great thing is that if users and developers can use mobile devices in similar ways to how they can use more traditional computers, they can provide some of that higher-level functionality on their own
