>into bdsm, bbw, stuffing

He is loveually objectifying women. Just your garden variety misogynistic male.
First of all, I'm not hugely into bdsm, although I'd happily try it. Second of all, having special interestes has nothing to do with objectification. You cant control what you're into, and being attracted to something isn't objectifying, it just means there are certain things that happen to turn you on. And besides, most of my special interestes aren't even specific to women.

And yes, you have triggered me

not 100% sure Harm's comment was supposed to be serious
but i can't tell so w/e

anyway yeah extremists ruin everyone's image.

poe's law. you have nobody to blame but yourselves for ruining your own image.

poe's law. you have nobody to blame but yourselves for ruining your own image.
poe's law sounds stuffty and flawed and you give no good reason as to why i should care about it

nobody's asking for you to care about it, but don't complain when everyone thinks feminism is a loving joke because of it

fair enough, but my point is like if someone were to bomb a school and it turns out it's somehow tied to the BL community, does that mean i'm some mad child bomber too?

that still assumes that "they" are a collective hive mind or similar phenomenon and have extensive community and grouping and can be held collectively responsible for the actions of a few, which is fairly illogical in this context

obv it's an unfortunate construct of human psychology or w/e to assume connections and create similarities and grouping qualifications but that doesn't make it fair and it's certainly not in the interest of approaching human matters with human consideration

idk man, it seems like most of the 'real feminists' I've talked to are more concerned with whether popular tv shows have enough tri-gender pyrofoxes in them than whether our social structure enables women to take up lucrative jobs and leadership positions.

why can't both be important though

Quote from: Poe's Law
Without a clear indication of the author's intent, it is difficult or impossible to tell the difference between an expression of sincere extremism and a parody of extremism.

Because there are so many extreme examples of feminism and parodies of said examples, it becomes difficult to differ between what's a parody and what isn't. The fault of this usually doesn't lie on the satirical examples, but on the extremism for being so extreme that it's basically a parody of itself.

Basically, let's say extremist feminists said "kill all men" often enough, and it was parodied enough that now when somebody says "kill all men", nobody can tell if it's supposed to be a parody or not.

The detrimental part of poe's law is that it becomes harder to take feminism seriously.

why can't both be important though
Because the first one isn't important at all, and the second one is incredibly important.

However, 95% of internet 'feminist' discussions focus around the first topic, while basically none address the second.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard "feminists are fat" jokes...
you'd be poor
