WHAT'S GOING ON?

Welcome to the ninth installment in Sid Jairo's Europa Forumalis! Welcome back to a familiar scenario: World War 2! In World War 2 V2, I've revamped a few mechanics from my original iteration. Most notably, I've added a combat region map, resources map, and technology tree. Whenever you wish to move troops to a location on the map, refer to the combat region map to detail where. Resources will play a pseudo-significant role in this game, mainly tacking restrictions onto army sizes and what weapons are available to others (I'll keep track of the behind-the-scenes importance).

To set the scene, the year is 1936. Riddler has taken complete control of Germany, ousting the Weimar Republic and hell-bent on acquiring his promised eastern Lebensraum. The Spanish Civil War, an impending storm and so-called "dress rehearsal" of the Second World War is on the horizon. Francisco Franco, the radical fascist leader of the Nationalists will vie for control against the left-wing Republicans for control over the former empire. Aiding either side in the conflict will net you an extra technology every day, giving you 3 techs to research a day until the war ends. Certain nations, such as Japan, are considered out of range and cannot participate in the war.

HOW DOES THE IDEOLOGY TREE WORK?
The Ideology Tree is an entirely new mechanic to the Sid Jairo series. Players can research one tenet from the tree every four months (Capitalism/Socialism/Autocracy is researched as soon as the tree is picked, so it doesn't count as a research).

ANOTHER NEW ASPECT TO SID JAIRO'S is the inclusion of the Mobilization Tree. Mobilization determines how many soldiers your nation is committing to an active combat effort. Mobilizing armed forces will increase civilian consciousness and may cause some revolts if the mobilization is seen as being unjustified. Demobilization can be applied at any tier of Mobilization and will completely demobilize any and all forces you had.

WHAT TECHNOLOGIES ARE THERE?
There are a total of 140 technologies in this RP, ~135 of which are purely upgrades.
- Technology tree

The technology tree may look extremely large, but it's actually fairly small when you take a closer look. It's a tree of seven categories: infantry, armor, artillery, warplane, watercraft, experimental, and innovation. The first five of those categories are collectively referred to as "tangible" and the last two as "theoretical". Theoretical techs, such as Early Atomic Program and Early Jet Engine, require resources before they can be researched. Early Atomic Program requires at least 4 Uranium, for example. Players will have to use intuition and their chosen ideology to overcome such obstacles.

RULES

1. Battles between players are settled through either a single or a series of posts by myself and the battle's affiliates. The players' choices in ideology and technology will influence the outcome of the battle as well as limited RNG.
2. Teching will be made public by all participants of this RP. Do not keep what you have researched private. This also applies to Ideology Tree picks.
3. Map edits that are not included in the OP are not final unless identified as such.
4. Act within reason (that includes omniscience/metagaming/powergaming).
5. Trade is allowed.
6. You cannot sell/give away/donate/whatever territories unless you have been conquered.
7. Teching up will be handled on a daily basis. Every IRL day accounts for the completion of 2 techs. When a player reaches a barrier that displays a year (eg The Destroyer of Worlds (1944)), they may not continue on any tree until the indicated year is reached. This is to promote research in several categories and to prevent people from getting certain techs too early.
8. Naval combat will be handled similar to land battles (the lack of sea areas is currently an issue, but will be handled in due time)
9. You may form alliances and defensive pacts and all those shenanigans
10. You cannot RP for nations you do not control
11. You cannot blitzkrieg other nations right out of the gate
12. Try to stay within reason of the era.
13. When engaged in war, you must wait for your opponent to respond/be aware of what is happening before commencing your next attack.
14. Player nations can be annexed. However, the conquered nation may still participate in the RP by outsourcing help from other nations and by organizing rebellions.
