the battle ended with 448,760 casualties and the capture of 10,000 soldiers. the republic, utilizing its expendable manpower through the use of human wave tactics, eventually overran the entrenched communists. their victory is a pyrrhic one, however, seeing the loss of 389,000 troops. the communists lost 59,760 troops in the fight with 10,000 surrendering. the rest retreated to reinforce the next garrison
