the republic of china, not interested in war with japan, reluctantly cedes taiwan

current status of the war of the two chinas

the republic of china has settled a peace deal with tibet, fully recognizing its independence in exchange for non-intervention in the war of the two chinas

the guerra fronteriza is looking like it'll end in a white peace so far

peru has taken significant losses in comparison to ecuador with no territory to show for it

an embarrassing conflict indeed

the revolutionaries, which had originally appeared nearby the interior of colombia, have linked up with cuban forces in riohacha.

colombia gathers forces in bogota in preparation of an attack

although the united kingdom has entered the spanish civil war, nationalists express no desires to capture gibraltar as they see this war as one strictly between them and republican spain

troop movements up in leon have allowed the nationalists to snag up a thin line of republican territory

although portugal is supporting the nationalist cause, they are not supplying them. nationalist spain requests portugal change this

initial soviet-mongol advances in manchuria have been successful

however, as they probe deeper into japanese territory, they will begin to face a slowdown due to the japanese destruction of bridges and some roadways. sakhalin, a territory contested since the first russo-japanese war in 1907, is finally under fire again from both sides

Cuba offers a pro-Cuban revolutionary leader named Josef Esteban,
who has shown aptitude in commanding his own men,
to oversee Riohacha throughout the conflict. This will not be without conditions, however:

He will also be assisted by a handful of Cuban advisers.

He is temporarily legally bound to Cuba, and cannot withdraw from the war.

These are both stopgap legislations and will be amended with a more long-term government when the war ends.

Also, Cuba builds tank construction plants.

A reconnaissance biplane spots the high troop concentrations in Bogata, and warns the forces in Riohacha.

A plan is formed to counter this, the first stage being to jury-rig railway guns for direct fire,
along with adding gun-shields to them.
They're also removed from the rails they got mounted on because Colombia honestly doesn't have that many railways,
and the guns Cuban forces use are comparatively small and lightweight compared to that of other nations.
Logs that are cut up into solid wooden wheels, are field-mounted onto the rail wheels of the ex-railway guns,
to increase the surface area of the wheels and decrease the chance of them sinking into the ground.

Then they're pushed and towed into position, ready for an attack. Unfortunately,
the setup is still too encumbering for movement in battle. The field guns are still very much mobile, though.

Most of Cuba's Colombia-stationed biplanes are fueled and ready to take off to assist in a defense.
The rest are being used for further reconnaissance.

Cuban forces offer the rebels most of their spare/surplus gas masks,
as the biplanes also spotted mustard gas manufacturing plants which confirmed already rising suspicions.

British Asian troops in Tibet are resupplied and relocate once more to the communist front

Italy continues to supply Nationalist Spain with guns, artillery, and planes.

With past completed studies, Germany begins to go into research of a newer type of tank. A quick, light and German-made one. It is also researched along with it's ways of supporting infantry.

With these past studies, Germany begins to look into the 'Blitzkrieg' tenet study.

Gas masks allow most troops to fire at the enemy, and along with direct-fire artillery,
the soldiers that hopped trenches in order to throw the mustard grenades are killed before they can make it to cover.

A counterattack happens, with entire squadrons hiding behind the gunshields of field guns as they're used to push up against the enemy.
Few of these groups are actually fired at as most Colombian field guns are preoccupied with Cuban biplanes strafing them.

Unfortunately, not all troops are diligent, and not all rebels could be issued gas masks.
Some are incapacitated immediately due to the gas entering their eyes and lungs.

When the initial wave of shielded groups break into the first couple of enemy trench lines,
they're followed by most of the troops stationed in southern Riohacha.

The railway guns quickly become indirect fire weapons again as trees obstruct the enemy.

...they request stronger trading with Germany, Japan and Italy. Additionally, Argentina requests the abolishment of border tariffs on trade goods between Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina to stimulate growth.

News

Alarmed by the recent aggression in South America and not wanting to get caught undefended, Argentina brings several modern weapons and the first class of light cruiser out of development and into production as well as the reorganization of national guard forces.

Chancellor Perón's reforms have been very successful at increasing the standard of living for a large portion of Argentinian citizens. His healthcare program has improved life as well, though mostly in urban areas only. Additionally, government propaganda supporting fascist political movements in South America have begun affecting Argentinian citizens, the majority of which now vocally support the fascist movement in Chile labelled as rebels by the Chilean government.

Externally, Argentina's government has condemned the recent mustard gas strike in Colombia, citing the effects it will have on citizens and farmland.
