now I'm curious: would you guys rather play an equal ~2 eras a month until the end or would you rather quickly play through the early eras to get set up and then slow things down for the meatier bits?

quickly through early eras till like, 100ish CE or 1700ish CE

antiquity and industrial revolution are p much the best eras, medieval is boring as hell

you're forgetting the viking era

you're forgetting the viking era
that's medieval
I would prefer for the earlier eras to last longer, historically the closer we get to now, the shorter the eras get
but I hate antiquity, its terribly boring and long, I'd rather just skip that and go into the next era (which would realistically have to be chaotic and all of the sudden, the dark ages didn't just happen because it had to, the fall of Rome and the chaos that followed along with the migration period and spread of new religions are all triggers of the medieval era.
medieval is also an Europe only thing too, the whole world shouldn't be in the dark ages because Europe is)

I would like them to be equal, the classical and medieval ones are my favourite

handling things like the flashpoint for the dark ages or similar will be strange to incorporate

which also brings me to another issue I've been mulling over: how should technology be handled? actual scientific achievement does not follow a ladder, and certain nations shouldn't have access to certain technologies at all

not to mention that the discovery/invention of certain things are among the main reasons as to why certain ages begin (eg the industrial era). however, considering this is a COMPLETELY alternate history forum roleplaying game, I suggest we just play things by ear and have a good time

perhaps some npcs (or even players) will rise and fall just as history dictates. perhaps not.

late game is most important
but i'm fine either way

here's how I'm defining the 8 eras

exploration should start roundabout 1494

the vikings did exploration like 700 years before 1494

we should start at the evolution of the first creatures to walk on land.
