- new deal allows the purchase of positive relations with foreign nations through weapon supplies or straight up financial aid
- capitalism encourages the role of private investors, increasing wealth and industrialization
- urbanization makes moving to cities more appealing to your citizens, bolstering growth and increasing production capacity

- creative expression increases global happiness in your empire

- universal healthcare increases the longevity of your population, boosting happiness and education
- civil society decreases global risk of revolution throughout your empire
- volunteer army increases your military size when at war. in a defensive conflict, the number is increased by 50%

- patronage allows the peaceful annexation and purchase of alliances with smaller nations. with larger nations, you may request territorial purchases
- their finest hour allows your leader to give a rousing speech to troops in a conflict, boosting morale and increasing their defensive capabilities

- economic union increases all wealth gathered from trade. in a treaty organization, this bonus is doubled
- treaty organization allows the establishment of an international union of states in a treaty-bound coalition. all members receive bonuses to wealth, food, and tolerance. if any member is attacked, the entire coalition is called into the war
- arsenal of democracy increases the benefits gathered from having a larger military. while a democratic nation is considered a secondary power, they receive bonus relations with all nations of the world. while a democratic nation is considered a great power, they receive bonus military help from all vassals and npc allies

wait

so this would be like what, direct democracy?

republic really REALLY goes hand in hand with democracy unless you have stuff like direct democracy
which is really stuffty for big countries

yeah i had assumed they were separate trios

- rampant militarism intimidates smaller nations surrounding you, slightly lowering their troop morale and increasing your own

- intranational juggernaut makes your leader an unstoppable political figure, able to gain popular support for any reform or decision. also reduces their chance of being assassinated
- bellicose dominion increases your nation's outlook on military endeavors, reducing the internal impact of aggressive expansion
- national arsenal increases your weapon stockpile, allowing for the armament of 1 under equipped ally per war

- nationalistic enthusiasm increases population happiness while at war and boosts troop morale
- lightning warfare allows for sweeping armored (or cavalry, if you're picking this tenet up really early) assaults on enemy armies, quickly subduing them
- lack of morality allows for the peaceful (horrible) relocation (deathmarching) of peoples you deem troublesome (unworthy) to live in your great (terrible) empire, temporarily reducing the risk of revolt

- united front increases the troop effectiveness of any vassals under your control
- gunboat diplomacy allows for the bullying of smaller nations into unfair peace deals, annexation proposals, and inappropriate demands for tribute
- jingoistic tendencies increases troop morale for every nation that declares war on you (not you on someone else)

- cult of personality makes your leader an influential figure in politics both home and abroad. your leader has the ability to make rousing speeches to increase troop morale and offensive capability. if your leader is assassinated, your nation's defensibility goes up by 50%
- total war allows for the mobilization of all resources and all people within your nation. all citizens will also receive general military education in preparation of such an event, increasing their effectiveness in combat

oh I guess I never formally mentioned it, but from the classical era to the enlightenment era, you guys will use the first three governments (republic, monarchy, tribal union)

once the industrial age comes upon us, you will pick one of the next three (democracy, autocracy, socialism)

transferring from a republic into a democracy will go much more smoothly than a monarchy into a socialist state, for example. following down a conflicting path will result in a bloody revolution.

republic -> democracy
monarchy - > autocracy
tribal union - > socialism

revolts will be a lot more tough this time around as well. if you get forgeted by a revolution and are forced to change, then maybe you should've done something earlier

preeeeetty sure historically we've seen democracies becoming republics, not vice versa

so nonnel

we're starting in antiquity

we were both gauls then

how are we gunna do dis

preeeeetty sure historically we've seen democracies becoming republics, not vice versa
and autocracies existed before monarchies

I'm being very black and white in my terminology here

- struggle of the poor increases happiness for all working-class citizens, boosting national industrial capacity and wealth
- party leadership centralizes your government, allowing any deals or reforms to pass without a hitch
- purge of the rich sees the imprisonment of nobles and the stripping of their wealth, which you will then inherit

- cultural revolution rapidly increases your population's opinion on your form of government, reducing revolt risk and influencing neighbors to convert

- order no. 227 sends a laconic message to your troops: not one step back. if any soldier is seen retreating, he will be shot on the spot. as a result, all troops will fight until the end
- patriotic war greatly increases troop morale, troop effectiveness, and troop defensibility while engaged in a defensive war
- scorched earth allows for the burning of farms and housing to freeze invading armies

- industrial complex further increases your nation's industrial capacity, offhandedly boosting wealth

- unified academia increases the literacy of your population, boosting happiness
- socialist realism promotes the good word of the big red one. propaganda may bleed into surrounding nations as well
- young pioneers increases your nation's capabilities in exploring the final frontier, boosting international respect and prestige

- hero of the people provides your nation with an incredible bonus to wealth and food for the duration of one era. if your nation is attacked after hero of the people is enacted, then the bonuses are dropped and exchanged for troop morale bonuses
