I hope this isn't being presented as a serious argument.

Referring to the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution while discussing gun rights in today's society is outrageous. It was written over 200 years ago, and back then is a very different time from today. In my opinion, guns need to be regulated alot more than they are today. They also need to be taken off the streets somehow, but that would be tough. Too many psychopaths are getting ahold of guns nowadays, killing innocent lives in elementary schools and other public locations. Freedom of gun rights might've been a good idea 200 years ago, but certainly not today.

thats what all leaders do when they want complete control. thats the entire point of the second amendment, so the government couldn't do it again.

Care to back this up with a source that didn't come from a youtube comment, cnn, fox, cnn, or tumblrites?

Godwin's law strikes again
and? He did a lot of stuff to make it relevant. We could bring up other dictators in the world.

Stop watching MSN and CNN.

Back then people in the colonies and European countries owned guns. It was the norm back then. Many people hunted, many people used them to protect their homes, many of them used them to overthrow governments. Most of those amendments date back to the founding and were response to the British treatment of the colonies.

You know what was a cruel and unusual punishment back then? Putting you up on display to have rotten fruit thrown at you, or having a rope tied to your neck and leg and spending the day hunched over. Or be dunked and water boarded in public.  Freedom of Speech? Speak against the king or the government and they imprisoned you. Quartering of troops? British troops use to be able to come into your home, sleep on your bed, eat your food, and leave without paying a cent.

Also do you expect police and military to go door expecting people to willingly give up their guns. Do expect those same police and soldiers who are pro-2nd amend to comply?

I do, and I think they should be illegal

I don't think they should, shut up hippies let us have our guns.
"god bless amurica"

Gun laws only affect law abiding citizens. If you do something illegal with a gun, it doesn't really matter if the gun is legal or illegal.

I'm sure it'd work in some places, I know it works pretty well in Australia. It wouldn't work in America. There are way too many illegal weapons already in circulation for it to even make a difference to the criminal world.

stuff I accidentally voted yes without paying attention
uh...someone vote no for me kthx.

I'm against anything more than mental health checks and banning violent felons from having firearms.

.snip.
You can't stop people from getting guns no matter how hard you try, you'll only make it harder or impossible for people to legally acquire them.
